Forget about the Italo bit in most cases. It may help to identify them there but most likely it tells nothing in terms of [real] italianicity.

In this case, Mynydd is correct. From traveling, I can tell you that Italians in the US or Brazil, are not very Italian at all. Most just know a few words and have the last name. I spent some time living there and saw enough. I spent time seeing other Italian families and it wasn't always the most nationalistic people. Some just didn't care if the Italian identity was kept in their children.
But of course, there is cases that are acceptable. A while back there was a story flying around of a 100% Italian from New York City who was a firefighter who moved to Rome to work there. He knew Italian already and it had been his dream to move all the way back. the funny part is that he was expecting to get a citizenship quickly and got pissed off when arabs and muslims were getting them instead.

Those brother nations need spiritual help. Western European nations need spiritual help too. Two monstruous systems - Soviet Communism and Western American style liberalism - devastated this continent and its peoples terribly.
