The US Army according to the RAI news (Italy) used in November 2004 white phosphorus during the operations in Fallujah. The chemical (Corvin: In fact is a mixture of iron oxide, phosphorus, aluminum and magnesium) was used against the insurgens and probably against civilians. The full article here:http://www.rai.it/news/articolornews...201030,00.html

UN warns on Iraq environment fate BBC News October 10, 2005 Derelict factories, military scrapyards and battle sites across Iraq pose a threat to the environment and to public health, the United Nations has said. The UN Environment Program has trained Iraqi specialists in detoxification, but says any clean-up could cost up to $40m (£23m). Chemical spills, unsecured hazardous material and widespread pollution by depleted uranium are among the issues. Without clean-up, heavy metals can poison ground water, causing illness. The Unep has examined five sites as part of its training efforts, and is concerned by the results. "There are hundreds, probably thousands of other sites with the need of assessment," said Mural Thummarukudy, Unep's manager in Iraq, who appealed for donations. ![]() Alla Saleem developed an eye tumour linked to depleted uranium String of wars Among the five sites already probed are a metal plating facility at al-Qadyissa that was bombed, looted and then demolished in 2003. Several tons of cyanide remain on the site, which is now an unsecured area used as a playground by local children. The other sites include an old sulphur mine, a munitions factory containing unexploded ordnance and an abandoned petrochemicals plant. Narmin Othman, Iraq's environment minister, said that some 311 sites were polluted by depleted uranium, the Associated Press reported. Many of Iraq's potential danger spots were either damaged or destroyed during the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s, the 1991 Gulf war or the US-led invasion in 2003. In addition, many of the sites have been looted in recent years as insurgents and militias raid them for weapons and materiel, with little thought for potential environmental effects. [source]

The picture in the original article looks like flashes are occuring in the air rather than the ground. If this is correct, what is to prevent the US military from saying that this phosporus (magnesium) weaponry was only used for illumination purposes?
The Lancet is the world's leading medical journal. When it comes out with statements as they did, well, this is about as solid proof as anyone needs that this war certainly does not benifit Iraqis. |

You are right, it does not benefit the Iraqis but for more reasons than just that.
It always start with the made-up excuse of bringing Democracy to every corner of the World, when Democracy, in its form of multi-party system, has proven wrong even in the so-called first World. However, it has served them as an excuse to invade Iraq to serve the interests of Israel by eliminating the most anti-Jewish state in the area, and to control their oil supplies. Together with the excuse of the yet-to-be-found weapons of mass destruction. So far the only weapons of mass destruction on Iraqi soil seem to be those brought by the U.S. military. Iraq, with its varied ethno-religious composition, was a country complex where stability was hard to maintain. Agreed that Saddam Hussein ruled with an iron fist, and agreed too that he might have overdone it with the Kurds. But in this he was not worse than many preferent allies of the U.S., like Turkey which has been harsher with the Kurds, or Morocco with Western Saharans, a country which they invaded with the go-ahead of the U.S.(*) The other attempted excuse for the invasion, Islamism... for Christ's sake! Islamic fundamentalists in Saddam's Iraq did not dare to raise their voices!!! Look how they are growing strong now! Saddam was the right ruler for such a country. Only God knows what the future will be for Iraq now. As a note aside, people here might be interested in knowing that in the 90s Saddam Hussein received comrades from Europe in Iraq, to whom he gave his friendly welcome. (*)While General Franco was dying in 1975, Morocco sent to then Spanish ruled Western Sahara a march of thousands of Moroccans who entered Western Sahara. They were all in civilian clothes though many were Moroccan Army and Police members, and at the head of the march they carried the U.S. flag. This was to make the Spanish Army understand that they were under the protection of the U.S., and had Spain shot a bullet over this fake civilian march Spain would have had it hard with the U.S. Western allies? My foot!

Mynydd raised the issue of bringing democracy to the Near East as a reason, or alleged reason, for the invasion of Iraq. It is a little surprising that this particular issue got any play outside of the USA where it goes down well as Americans associated democracy with the "American Way". In other words, it plays to an enthnocentric argument.
But how or why does Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld, or the Neo-Cons think, for even one second, that they have the right to impose democracy on anybody else? Another red herring issue or cause for war was oil. To add confusion to the whole Iraq War issue, Jewish agents, speaking from the shadows, raise American interest in Iraqi oil as a reason for war. They do this just at the point where the subject of Israel might just come up. Then, they turn around and discredit the war-for-oil theory and then lump any covert reason for war (of course including the one in which it benifits Israel) into a conspiracy contex and dismiss all such ideas as the ideas of nuts. Of course we now know KBR, a Halliburtion subsiderary, is doing all the pipeline work and infa-structure work in Iraq and surrounding countries, but Jews don't like this issue either. |

(warning: highly disturbing pictures)
Apparently, white phosphorus does not destroy the clothes but the human tissues. The images on the link are horrifying to extremes that one could never expect from the worst and lowest of the human beings.. http://www.rainews24.rai.it/ran24/in...gallery=1&id=5 .. let God forgive greedy America for its extremely savage cruelty, because there must not be forgiving nor forgetting for it in this life and in this world.

Over the weekend, the US Army has now admitted they used phosporus as a weapon in Fallujaha last year. At first they said they only used it to flush out "terrorists" but then later admitted they used it directly on them.
Then they said White Phosporus wasn't a chemical weapon. |

Before the invasion of Iraq, Saddam's regime was a deterrent to Islamic fundamentalism. Today Iraq is a field fertilised for the growth of Islamic fundamentalism. Will Syria be next?
