Freedom of faith is the most important concept to keep Europe united. Try to impose catholicism or paganism or atheism on Europe and you will end up with a lot of wars.... |

For it is certain that Ireland hath had the use of letters very anciently and long before England; that they had letters anciently is nothing doubtful, for the Saxons of England are said to have their letters and learning, and learned men, from the Irish. - Edmund Spenser (writer, and British Government Official in Ireland, AD 1596). ![]() |

Oh Lord, halleluja!
You have enlightened me. ![]() I do think that a faith is good in the sense that it can keep people conservative. It can also give young people a direction (although they can be brainwashed too) in life. It's a good way of keeping traditions and strong family values. Are you saying that Agnosticism is worse than Atheism, because Atheists have at least "wagered" one way? Quote:

"The religious environment that Pascal lived in was simple. Belief and disbelief only boiled down to two choices: Roman Catholicism and atheism. With a finite choice, his argument would be sound. But on Pascal's own premise that God is infinitely incomprehensible, then in theory, there would be an infinite number of possible theologies about God, all of which are equally probable."

In saying that, I do remember a Bible pasage about people who are "luke-warm" being unpalatable to God and being told - "Look, just choose one or the other and let me get on with administering justice. Damned fence sitters." Well, maybe that wasn't the exact wording ![]()

I think you could reasonably argue against that statement

The only people who adminster juctise or injustice are those in political and/or military power, and we know how it went during the Middle Ages when Church and state were not separate in most of Europe.
