FROM WND'S JERUSALEM BUREAU
Syria: Jews use hot pokers to gouge Palestinians' eyes Damascus releases updated 'Protocols' book filled with canards about 'treacherous' Zionists Posted: March 9, 2005 1:00 a.m. Eastern By Aaron Klein © 2005 WorldNetDaily.com JERUSALEM – Syria has published an updated version of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion," an anti-Semitic story that claims Jews run the world by proxy, adding to it Islamic extremist ideology and dedicating the work to Palestinian suicide bombers, WorldNetDaily has learned. The new edition of the Protocols was introduced at February's Egyptian International Book Fair, considered the most important event in the Arab literary world, and was published by a Syrian company, Dar al-Awael, which credits Syria's Ministry of Information with approving the text of the book. The work contains several sections that claim Jews control the world, the Holocaust was a Zionist creation, and Israelis seek to kill Arab children, according to a translation provided to WND by Israel's Center for Special Studies. Chapters include "Judaism is a closed religion," "The Jews are treacherous," and "The laws of humanity and humanistic behavior among Jews are only valid for themselves." The book, written by Raja Abd al-Hamid Urabi, who is presented as a Syrian historian, opens with a "history" of the Jewish people that claims Jews invented the idea of their nation being "chosen" and later created a false connection to the land of Israel. The first section also tells readers Jews "from time immortal" have dominated the fields of prostitution and drug dealing. The book goes on to rehash an old anti-Semitic canard that Jews use non-Jewish blood to bake unleavened bread on Passover: "The Jews deviated from the instructions in the Torah and perform human sacrifices on non-Jews. The victim's blood is kneaded into the matzo dough. ... Many instances were found in Europe of children who were kidnapped so that their blood might be used after they had been sacrificed. Those events had a negative influence on the Jews, even leading to their expulsion from Britain in 1920." Another section talks about "the crimes of the Jews in Palestine. From our brothers [the Palestinians], I heard that the Jews perform the most barbaric acts on whomever they catch. ... Their stomachs had been opened and their kidneys, liver or heart had been removed and then they were sewed up again. Their eyes were burned out with red-hot iron pokers." The new Protocols notes the "greed and spread of corruption in the world by the Jews" and rehashes chapters from the original Protocols, which spells out an alleged secret plan of Jewish leaders seeking to attain world domination. The new Syrian edition was dedicated to "the shaheeds of the blessed Al Aqsa [Mosque] and all those who died the deaths of martyrs for the sake of Allah in Palestine. May Allah grant me the privilege of dying the death of a martyr for the sake of Allah in Palestine." The original "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" purports to be minutes of a meeting of top Jewish leaders plotting to take over the world. It was supposed to have been read at the First Zionist Congress held in 1897 in Basel, Switzerland, but is thought to have been forged and edited by Serge Nilus, a Czarist official in Moscow, with several editions relating different accounts of how he discovered the document. Sources say the updated Syrian Protocols was vetted by Egyptian authorities who monitor the content of the book fair and reportedly excluded materials considered problematic to the Egyptian regime. The Egyptian media regularly produce anti-Semitic and anti-Israel propaganda. Egypt's state-run newspaper recently ran a two-part series that denied the Holocaust and claimed Jews invented "lies of genocide" to extort the West and make possible the establishment of the Jewish state. "The Zionist movement ... resorted to means that are closer to lies and myths more than reality and truth," claimed a prominent columnist in Egypt's Al-Liwaa al-Islami newspaper. "Among them, he wrote, was "the lie of burning the Jews in the Nazi gas chambers during World War II." "What interests us here is that this lie [about] the burning of the Jews in the Nazi crematoria has been disseminated throughout the world until our time in order to extort the West and make it easier for the Jews of Europe to hunt [sic] Palestine and establish a state on it, in disregard of the most basic principles of international law and the right of peoples to independent life without occupation. [This lie] was raised [also] so that [the Jews] would receive financial, technological and economic aid from the West. ..." The Syrian media, including state-run television and newspapers, have the past few weeks been broadcasting anti-American programming, media monitors say. Syria has been coming under daily fire from the U.S., Europe and many Arab countries demanding Damascus end its occupation of Lebanon. Last week, Lebanese Prime Minister Omar Karami announced the resignation of his pro-Syrian government during a parliamentary debate about the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri for which Syria has been blamed. The dramatic announcement followed nearly two weeks of mass protests and a civil uprising in which tens of thousands assembled regularly in Beirut holding prayer vigils and marching on the site of Hariri's assassination, some chanting "Syria out!" and "Down with the government!" The Syrian publishing firm responsible for the new Protocols has published several other Israel-related titled the past three years, including "The Great Hoax – Are the Jews Really Allah's Chosen People?" "The International Criminal Court and the Crimes of Israeli Leaders," "The Killing from the Jews," and "How the Jews Created the Holocaust."

The author, Aaron Klein, neglects to tell us how we can get a copy of the New Protocols. It sounds like a best seller.
