Not only that they are corrupt, but they (politicians like Brown, that is) are also politicians from the New Soviet Union (EU+NATO+USA+dominions), which is a new monstruous and nightmarish totalitarian creation in making, and still they dare pseudo-moralistically harp about "democracy" in...Zimbabwe or God knows where.

Not too long ago the Bavarian party CSU (Christian Social Union) sent "election helpers" to nursing homes, to help elderly people to do the right vote. The CSU won of course - at the same time the bastard state of FRG sends the army to Congo to observe and guarantee "fair elections". It is ridiculous how FRG officials dare to criticize Bangladesh for not having a seperation of powers (checks and balances) whilst the FRG continues the NS law that says judges are "Weisungsgebunden" - means they are bound to orders and supervised by the minister of justice...

Nah, I read somewhere that in some African countries, back in sixties, when those countries had freshly gained independence, at elections different kinds of fruit were put beside poll-boxes, so that candidates be distinguished one from another (for example, one of them symbolised by a banana, another one by coconut), most of people being illiterate and not having a political culture of the European type, out of which the very concept of elections arose.
So the decision of the international structures of power to impose elections and parties everywhere had so long-reaching consequences. When we think of the way voters in "advanced Western democracies" decide for whom to vote, it is not much different. Many people attach themselves to a logo, an abbreviation of party's name or to a symbol. In America they have donkey symbolizing Democrats and the elephant the Republicans. Most of European states have similar two-party system with two voting herds and symbols attached to them. The symbolic message counts more than the party's programme. Not much difference from banana-cocnut system. Last edited by Marcus Marulus; Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 at 21:14. |

Especially this wording: World's patience with Mugabe beginning to wear thin, looks a bit strange. I mean, what is "the world"? Is it some living being, some kind of entity, a state, a government? There are United Nations, but that organization is not synonymous with "the world".
