Torture victim may have known rape suspect, prosecutor says

A 20-year-old woman who police say was kidnapped, and then tortured and sexually assaulted for at least a week, may have had a previous relationship with one of the suspects charged in the case, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

Logan County prosecutor Brian Abraham said Tuesday that federal officials were investigating whether the six West Virginian suspects, who are white, can be charged with carrying out a hate crime against Megan Williams, who is black.

Bobby Brewster, 24, and his mother, Frankie Brewster, are among the suspects. Abraham said Bobby Brewster and Williams may have been romantically involved.

CNN normally does not reveal sexual assault victims' names. But Williams, who is hospitalized, and her mother, Carmen Williams, wanted her identity revealed.

Police said Bobby Brewster raped Williams, forced her to lick blood and drink from a toilet, and told his mother to kill Williams if she tried to escape.

Authorities previously said Williams was also forced to eat rat and dog feces.

According to criminal complaints filed in the county, Williams was assaulted, stabbed in the left leg, choked and beaten for at least a week.

Williams says one of the suspects cut her ankle with a knife while saying, "That's what we do to [racial slur] around here," police records show.

"I don't understand a human being doing another human being the way they did my daughter," Carmen Williams told The Associated Press on Tuesday from her daughter's hospital room. "I didn't know there were people like that out here."

Deputies received a tip and Saturday visited a home owned by Frankie Brewster in Big Creek, West Virginia.

As the deputies spoke with a woman on the front porch, "a female inside the residence limped toward the door with her arms held out, saying 'Help me,' " according to a news release from the sheriff's department.

"It's something you'd expect to see in a horror movie, not in Logan County," Abraham said. "She was subjected to unendurable torture down there."

Defense attorney Joe Spradling, who represented two of the suspects in the past, said he believes there is some racial component to the allegations, "but the biggest factor is drugs."

The six are charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, malicious wounding and battery. If convicted of kidnapping, a suspect could face a sentence of up to life in prison. The penalty for first-degree sexual assault is 15 to 35 years.

Abraham said he is seeking the maximum sentence on the kidnapping charges. In addition to the Brewsters, the suspects are Danny J. Combs, 20, of Harts, West Virginia; and George A. Messer, 27, Karen Burton, 46, and her daughter, Alisha Burton, 23, all of Chapmanville, West Virginia.

"They all have previous records and have been arrested numerous times," Sheriff W.E. Hunter said Tuesday. "They are familiar to law enforcement."

Frankie Brewster was charged with first-degree murder in 1994, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter in the death of an 84-year-old woman. She was released in 2000 after serving five years in prison, according to court records cited by the AP.

All six were being held in lieu of $100,000 bail, and all requested court-appointed attorneys, the AP reported.

Investigators are still looking for two other people suspected of driving Williams to the home, according to the AP.

Carmen Williams had not reported her daughter missing, saying Megan Williams often disappeared for weeks at a time.

There is plenty of violence coming from the black community, I totally agree with american who says that they are the blacks who commit the most crimes.

Obviously they have the slavery past to put up as defence, and that in the minds of simple people is a powerful argument.

But the error was commited when slaves were freed: they were not repatriated all, as it would have been correct, and I'm speaking of a repatriation with some substantial money compensation for the work done for free.

Instead they were kept to be part of a society they could not adapt to, since american whites couldn't wean themselves off cheap labor.

It is no wonder if this was a recipe for disaster, especially because the sense of guilt for having enslaved innocents produced finally the foolish and dangerous backlash of political correctness and of the quota system.

As of this very episode, it is only a marginal case of criminal behavior that arises fom a degraded environment, where people with an obvious heap of psychiatric disorders have committed a crime against somebody perceived as weaker than they are.

The big circus of political correctness will do the rest, giving black "unprivileged" classes more free benefit at the expenses of merit.

It is likely that a serious welfare system might have prevented this by providing the perpetrators with the timely mental assistance they clearly need, but the U.S. will never learn the european lesson of a public health system.

The oversimplification of the white power movements are not a good reason to forget the historical truth: whites are, on average, very intelligent. It is all in that word, on average: it means that as for every human group there are lows and highs. There are also sick people, since whites are human, not a superhuman race as believed by the troubled AH and his colonial followers. Hmm... you are partly right here, but I'm not sure that the differences in achievement between Europeans and black Africans can be attributed to some innate differences in the average intelligence between the two racial groups.

What we have here as a mere established and unquestionable fact is the European better achievement in absolutely every conceiveble field. That alone is an unquestionable fact and the statement that this fact is due to some higher average intelligence, isn't an established fact, but merely one of the hypotheses that might be proposed to explain the above noted evident discrepancy in achievement. It is one of the possible interpretations.

I am not too sure in the probability and veracity of such an interpretation, first of all because the very concept of intelligence is a very vague one and cannot be easily grasped or defined. There are different types of intelligence and there are sometimes highly intelligent individuals who tend to be destructive to the community. It could be argued that it's not only intelligence that matters, but the way the society/community uses it.

On the other hand, all the studies and researches done by the American racialist (quasi?)scientists/geneticists of the past don't convince me too much, because they are all, almost without single exception, founded upon the premise of the American theory of the IQ as the sole indicator of intelligence.

Some argue that the European civilization is to be credited for all these achievements, a fruitful combination of Greek philosophy, Roman law and Christianity, which gave birth to a cultural climate in which intelligence could be used in the best way for the advancement of the community.

While in Africa, on the other hand, it was the policy of sheer and brutal force that solely mattered: the one who had the bloodiest club or sabre (or sword), who succeeded to kill the biggest number of enemies and impose himself forcefully upon others, was considered the most respectable member of the community. Sheer violence and power were the only criterion for the social advancement. The only "intellectuals" were sorcerers and medicine-men. It was thus a conjuction between power and magic that ruled Africa for millennia. Only the regions in which earlier Islamic and later Christian powers penetrated, were those that obtained some veneer of higher civilization.

There is a danger of large sections of European population descending on the level in which Africa has been living for millennia, even without the immigration. The trends have started. Glorifying of power and violence above anything else (the "cultural" pattern that can be found in rap muzac and in many other products of the entertainment) can be viewed as a sign of European decay, of a white-trashization of the continent.

The French term "Beauf" is not the equivalent of the American "White Trash" IMO.

Just compare the genesis of the two terms : everything conservative and working-class was called 'beauf' in France by the left (Charlie Hebdo style). White Trash is another phenomenum (but I don't deny that we have it here).

Which non-Europeans ? Non-Europeans are not a united group, there are dumb people and intelligent people in every country.
