I wouldn't go to that country if it is not accompanied by an invasion force.

And you are surprised?
![]() Albanians in Croatia are mafia and if not then make ice cream, mend clocks or work with gold. These are decent citizens. Too bad they are a minority.

Seriously, is this possible? Was the bodyguard by any chance the one who put it aside, or did it just fall off? Aside all stereotypes about Albanians, the humor of this situation is simply brilliant. I mean, it is a pickpocket's dream, to 'nick' someone as important as the president of the USA. Whoever this man was, he now has a story to tell for the rest of his life. |

I wouldn't trust an Albanian bakery. My aunt went into an Albanian owned bakery once, after eating the bread she became sick.

Other than the watch, I honestly don't know where in Europe would he be able to have a mix with the populace. Less so with people kissing his hands.
I bet that if he took his shoes off they would have kissed them too.

![]() Seriously now, it's true that I have been quite shocked by the extent of the pro-American feelings in Albania. I knew that they were rather atlantist, but kissing Bush's hands... Let's be fair though. Albania is not the only European country where Bush is a semi-god. Think of Poland, Romania, Baltic countries ... More or less the former Eastern block minus the Serbians and the Russians.

But at least Slovaks didn't steal his watch. ![]() People in Croatia are fairly negative towards USA too. Most people I know consider Bush to be a clown and an idiot..

Not so much as before. They are being pushed out of the business by new competition. I remember that as a kid (when it was still Yugoslavia) in my home town you basically couldn't find a privately owned bakery or pastry shop that wasn't held by Albanians. They were mainly economic immigrants from Kosovo.
Today the situation is diametrally the opposite. You can barely find one. Most of them were pushed out of the business, closed their shops and went back to from whence they came. Few who got fairly rich stayed but they assimilated. |

![]() I think that he received such a welcom because his administration has benefitted Albania economically and with regard to Kosovo. While Croatia has had no benefit from good relations with the U.S.. Actually I think there's only one thing he ever said that might have benefite Croatia had he actually done it, I remember in the ;ast U.S. presidential election it was reported in the media that he would get rid of the ICTY- turned out to be a lie.
