Cops use plane to nab apple-eating driver



LONDON (Reuters) - Police called in a spotter plane, helicopter and video-equipped patrol car to help convict a woman who ate an apple while driving to work, newspapers have reported.



After nine court hearings and a trial lasting more than two hours, nursery nurse Sarah McCaffery was fined 60 pounds on Monday when a court upheld a police decision to give her a penalty ticket.



Police used the plane, helicopter and car to film road conditions on the route she took in Tyneside, northeast England, after officers pulled her over in December 2003.



"It is a joke they put so much effort into this," McCaffery, 23, told the Sun newspaper on Tuesday. "You would think they had better things to do."



She said she had both hands on the wheel of her Ford Ka and was driving safely. But police and public prosecutors said she was not in control and they were obliged to gather evidence when she chose to fight the fine in court.

Its had a history of nearly being doomed since its creation, it always springs back up...a little revolution once in a while is a healthy thing .

Standing? Surely you mean financially since it is the Jewry of Europe and the errands boy of America in Europe.

I could tell you personal stories of when I lived there which would give you a different picture, a more realistic one. A people with a bogus sense of pride which in reality are on their knees.

Ms McCaffery should teach me how to eat an apple without using my hands while driving safely. There was a blow-up in Australia saying that doing potential dangerous things whilst driving like eating apples, using a cell phone (handi to Germans) or reading a map can land one with a stint in jail and hefty fines. I don't believe the police went out specifically with their plane, copter or cars looking for her because of her notorious apple eating whilst driving. She just was unlucky enough to be caught and seen by the plane, copter and car police. Her bad luck and stupidity, for not checking to see that there were no cops around before she sunk her chops onto that apple. What is it with women and apples? I suppose some snake made her do it.

It is illegal to eat while driving in Australia too, but it is unlikely anyone will catch you.
