I think some people who think they are part Cherokee might actually be part African. The reason being that in the Old South, it was a huge stigma to be part African. So, if people wanted to hide that they could explain away their dark features by saying they were part Indian, which carried much less of a stigma.

most white americans may have black or indian blood. I would think most would if their ancestors have been in America since the 17th or 18th centuries. I wonder if there are studies on that somehow.
