The Poles did take Moscow, however the borders never stretched to Moscow, for the army that took the Kremlin had been driven out eventually after about a year of no reinforcements and attacks from the russian people. Who were the Kozaks you speak of? I know the Poles had Kozaks in the army but I thought they were Aleksander Lisowski's "Kozaks"(acctually a Polish light cavalry unit, which gained lots of fame for plundering and brilliant fighting)

It was Hetman Pavlo Konasevych Sahaydachnyj (originally from Sambir). The Russians hate talking about him. In articles I have read they say he was sorry for the rest of his life for ransacking Moscow (and his orthodox brothers) three times.

Basically he accomplished what Hitler nor Napoleon failed to acheive.

I´ll try to explain: Napoleon also sortof took Moscow. Yet, you´ll not call Russia a part of France. Not yet!

I don't know about this Hetman your talking about, but I do know that it was Zolkiewski who defeated the Russians in a battle at Kluszyn (5,000 Poles against about 30,000 Russians), which concluded in Zolkiewski taking his army into Moscow and capturing the Kremlin. Today's independence day of russia is celebrated on the day when the Russians finally drove the Poles from the Kremlin.

If I'm not mistaken, it changed to that date just recently, no?
