And what does it prove? That controversial maps, opposing archeology, are still published in Germany. I agree. This time not only proto-Slavs disappeared but also Celts and prot-Balts. Bravo for ignorance. http://img29.exs.cx/img29/7094/lusi7wk.jpg |

The Brockhaus sets the standard in Germany. In other words, what is stated there is considered the official version in German schools and media. No need to convince Poles of anything

Well, why let truth and historical accuracy get in the way of a depressed nation's last gasp efforts to reclaim some pride.
I pity Germany. |

Seriously, I think this is getting out of hand. Let's put this nonsense behind us and move on. We're just adding fuel to the 1000 year old fire, let's put it out, if only on this forum. At least it's a start. I'll go first...I like most Germans, and wish them, as I do all the people on this planet, peace and prosperity. ![]() Last edited by bocian; Thursday, December 30th, 2004 at 19:01. |

Well, like I said on Skadi, there will always be tension between Germans and Slavs because of our past - wars, land claims etc. - issues which I have personally grown tired of discussing about, so I will leave these to whoever else wants to do it. Such divergences almost always end up in flame wars, not a single conclusion is reached and most likely the threads get closed. There are Slavs I like or have no problems with - most on this board in fact
, so I think it's no crime if we all act in a civilised manner without mocking others. |

Slavic toponyms in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
http://img149.exs.cx/img149/2325/topon0ft.jpg This map is strange 1.Wołyń instead of Wolin? 2.Gołonóg (Gollnow)? Shouldn't that be Goleniów? 3.Swibowina/Świbowina doesn't seem to exist in today's Poland 4.Murzynno seems to be rather German and come from German Mohr/Moehre, the ending is slavic though. 5. Weren't Świnoujście and Piła already founded by Germans? 6.Potdsam shouldn't that be Podstupim rather than Postąpin? 7.Schwerin = Zwierzyn? I always thought it was Swarzyn (from a slavic god) 8.Rostock = Roztok? Or Rostoka? 9.Stralsund = Strzałów? Or Strzałków? 10.Wolgast = Otogoszcz? Or Wołgoszcz? 11.Prenzlau = Przemysław? WTF? Przemysław as a name appeared in the XIV century Sorry, but I don't buy this map. As for the german maps? Bornholm=Burgundarholm? Weird, never heard of it. |
