And this is a problem that's currently bringing much internal divisions, which it reflects in the external, and could eventually provoke a split in the party.

In all fairness I must say that a future rupture or a wrong direction in the Front National could be a tragedy not only for France in particular, but for Europe and Nationalism in Europe in general.

Yes, I've heard about that several well known members have already split from the party and formed their own nationalist parties, I think it was a mistake by Le Pen to make the party a "famliy dynasty" of sorts by appointing his daughter.

Position in a party should be determined by skill and not lineage, though his daughter might appeal more to the sceptic than the "racist" Le Pen.

I'm afraid that you've missed the point that Le Pen was making. Le Pen was using there the media show that Sarkozy organised with the liberation of Betancourt around himself, as a part of a package of panem et circenses escape to keep people away from the reality of the totalitarian directions of the European Union. Other items that he included in that "package" are: the Roland Garros Tournament, the Beijing Olymipic Games, or whatever helps to keep public attention in a status of political reality letargy.

I don't know what the appeal of Marine Le Pen is for the French public, since I'm not a French. But I think that she would take the Front National to a good port.

Le Pen was entitled to attack Sarkozy, because Sarkozy was elected mostly on immigration and security issues, Le Pen's traditional playground.
Sarkozy managed to seduce, like an old vulgar cheap whore from Pigalle, a good part of Le Pen's electorate in 2007.

Of course, once elected, he turned his back and restarted his Euro-mondialist destruction job.

Le Pen wanted to say the the (French) people's will was put down the tube.

Hehe, good one. Is, er, this place Pigalle (wherever it is) as notorious as that?

Well, there aren't many hookers left in Pigalle, soon you'll have only layette stores there. But I used this name because it is famous outside of France.

Pigalle, no better place for a talented pipe player. (I'm referring to the music stores, not the BJ ;-)
