If there are problems with Muslims in Sweden and elsewhere in Europe, this is primarily due to the stupidity of the governments and their immigration policy.

Since people will keep voting for politicians supporting an open door immigration policy and the destruction of our European values by liberalism and social-democracy, it will not change.

Those liberals and pseudo-"conservatives" who say that radical Islam (or even just Islam) is the problem are just hypocrites.

I agree with Cirrus. Symptomatic of the spineless Swedish media, on the other hand, is that here they are reporting about a Fox News item about Rosengård, Malmö, describing it pejoratively as an item that "has been a cause for strong emotions and debate at home in Sweden". I wonder whose home she is referring to. The people over at Fox News are at the worst the soft core of hipocrisy, and the Swedish media are the hard core, no doubt. What is described as something outrageous is the news item by Fox News, and not its subject.

In fact, the Fox reporter is criticising the liberal asylum policy. I don't really see what part of their work would be hipocritical. We should even thank them for making those riots a topic of debate at all.

I dont know why you are calling it hypocritical, I am not a fan of Fox News, but I certainly have nothing bad to say about that particular piece of video.

That reporter speaks more truth about immigration and the problems with Swedish tolerance of it, than 99% of all Swedes I have ever talked to have even hinted at. And that is not a critique of Swedes, but it is a critique of the general political climate in Sweden concerning such topics, and many other European countries.

This video was quite controversial after when it was made (few years ago I think), I read about that somewhere. Anyway, there's another video about Muslims in Germany (some other thread here in Video section), when Aprtg. (German) saw it he said he didn't see it before since German media doesn't really show the dark side of immigration much. It depends on which country you live. Here on Slovenia, when we had that big gypsy problem a year ago, media was far from being objective, but when I saw how much the media in northern/western EU countries was twisting the truth, it made me sick.

Sweden and Germany have the most useless media in the world. Speaking for Sweden, there is no doubt that the mass media are as a rule so intertwined with political power, that most of the time the media tell people whatever the government wants people to believe.

And people in Sweden are strikingly unaware of this problem. I've heard so many stupid comments from Swedes over exactly what's wrong with our media. The leftists still have a stronghold on the media and it is proven in surveys that the average journalist is far more of a leftie than people in general.

Most people think that something must be wrong only in those rare instances when an alternative viewpoint is presented, because lefties have hi-jacked truth here, even if they are lying unashamedly.

It is true what a friend said to me, that Swedes abandoned God to believe in social democracy instead. We have a liberal government now, and the media keeps criticising them... for not being exactly like the social democrats.

Tell me, Gnist, are the media you are talking about publicly owned?

The thrust of the matter is that even in cases when media are in private hands, nothing is substantially different as to these phenomena you are referring to. Because it is usually one or two media concerns that own almost everything printed, broadcasted or transmitted via internet. That big corporation usually gets in close relationship with the structures of political power, which in turn guarantee to its owner a lasting monpoly on media space. The owners of the media corporation then choose journalists who think along the ideological lines of the government and anything that is opposed to the party line is avoided. So you get private, but at the same time statal media.

North Koreans were allegedly the inventors of the procedure known as brainwashing. They practiced it, so the story goes, on war prisoners - on American and other soldiers of the coalition - during the Korean war. They turned some of them into Communist. But modern Western democracies perfectioned this system greatly and North Koreans look as little children in comparison with present-day media manipulators.

Yes. People limit themselves to criticising teensy-weensy details when they should try to step outside the entire world of mass media to take a good look of it. Only, taking that step involves a lot of what Heidegger called Besinnung (mindfulness), in my opinion.

There are two government owned TV channels. But most of the media is privately owned, even though it doesn't prevent them from sometimes even appointing politicians who devoted their whole life to social democratic internationalism as presidents. Svensk Filmindustri (Swedish Film Industry), owned by the Bonnier family, is a good example of that. It is also common practice for newspapers to appoint politicians to the task of commenting politics.
