As regards prospects for Basque indipendence:
it seems most of Basques would not vote for independence even if a referendum were held tomorrow. So how could they claim independence, if most of them are against it? Should independence be "forced" upon them? Ridiculous.

As for ETA, it seems to me their campaign has (since long ago) degenerated into mere killing for killing's sake.
