Sumeria is the start. Not armenia.

There was a radio program from Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on DR (Danish Radio) earlier this year, and I remember the journalist mentioning that the Armenians, like the Georgians, were very committed to being European. I'm not sure if that's true, but if so, that should be taken into consideration as well. Id est, there is no need for discussing any Europeanness if they don't care about it themselves.

Very interesting thread!
However, as have been stated, "Christianity" is a broad term. For instance, Copts are even more ancient Christians, which makes their religion less connected to European Christianity, not the opposite. So the fact that Armenians have been Christians for a long time is either irrelevant, or speaks against them being European (which they aren't). Her ethnicity is "white" ![]() |

Why didn’t you ask just “Are you Armenian?”

That's an allegation. Please back it up with something.

The Armenians that I saw once here, I got shocked by their looks. Nothing to do with them being or not European.. the question that crossed my mind was whether they were for real or not. Quote:

I am not Armenian, but I have a very close friend who is Armenian. She could pass as Russian, Bulgarian, French or Italian.
Speaking of Sumeria, Epic of Gilgamesh, Mount Mashu with two peaks, where do you think that is located? The epic talks about El Shaddai —God of the Two Peaks, the ancient sun-god who appeared between the two peaks of the cosmic mount. Gilgamesh in his journey arrives at the Twin Mountain (Mashu) which is the gate of the setting sun through which Gilgamesh has to pass. That mountain must be Mount Ararat, where "Noah landed" (Jewish or not Jewish, Christian or Muslim, that is not essential) and which is another version of the Sumerian epic anyways. In Armenian the mountain is called Masis and it does have two peaks. Could that be a coincidence that Masis and Mashu even sound similar? |
