I'm southern a sudtirolean man called me "un po' teron"
un po' teron = a little bit southern
Northeasterns are called "terroni del nord" (southerns of the north) Which is stange because We think northwesterns are more "southern-a-like" Actually people from near town of Mantova (Lombardy) are called Terroni.
Italian city states are alive and well I guess

I wasn't aware of that. Maybe it is related to first half of XXth century vast emigration from Triveneto in Northwestern cities like Milan and Turin?

What can I say WOW! Didn't know about it. Definitely we are not in the same league. Silvio is simply the best
