It's funny how Basque separatists (who traditionally defended the reunification of Ireland), now also cheerish the independence of Kosovo, which in levels of lawfulness would perfectly compare to a Northern Ireland case, both in the ethnic and religious level. When they were rallying in Toronto (I saw a bunch of cars flying down the highway COVERED in 2-4cm of ice [so many car accidents here because of this freezing rain]) they used this red flag with some sort of blackbird on it. Couldn't make it out because the bus I was on was fishtailing. (Those crazy Kosovars, going at regular highway speeds when the road is COVERED in ice ,-,))

The government in Serbia does not represent the view of Serbs. 70% of Serbs believe that Serbia should stop trying to join the EU if the EU recognizes Kosovo.

Since more then half of EU members say they intend to recognize Kosovo, it is clear the government must stop courting the EU.

What will stop a largely Muslim-populated territory in Britain or France from setting up their own independent entity?

This is going to cause increased fragmentation world-wide, everyone basing it on the Kosovo precedent. My fear is that this will especially cause the Albanian population in Macedonia, and possibly the one in Montenegro to proclaim their own independence, which, in my opinion, would spark another Balkan war.

Slovenian embassy was closed well in advance. American embassy staff were idiots and didn't close it down -- I guess they learned nothing from 1979 Iran (get rid of your stuff once you anger the local populace).
