London.- Gibraltar has lost its number two British authority after the suicide of its military chief in command, Commodore David White.

The 50 year old British Navy chief was found dead last saturday evening in the swimming pool of his official residence of Mount Barbary, in an impressin mansion which takes its name after the Barbary monkeys of the Rock. White, a bachelor and with a typical British gentleman education, was in charge of the nearly 600 military men which Britain have stationed in Gibraltar. The political authority of the Rock is in charge of Governor Sir Francis Richards.

The MoD in London refused to confirm to this newspaper the cause of the death and the nature of the police investigation which is being carried. However, according to various British publications, the military police had told White that he had to return to London one day before he commited suicide. According to The Sun, White was an out-and-out paedophile who used to buy child pornography with his credit card. He was briefly detained by the military police last Christmas. Last week, in the light of new information, he was told to return to Britain until the investigation had concluded.

White had a brilliant career. He studied at Eton, which keeps being the most elitist boarding school in the country, and he had been given, with only 49 years old, the military command over the Rock together with a high Navy rank.

Among his distinguished destinies, White had served on board of the royal yacht Britannia between 1988 and 1989. Queen Elizabeth had personally appointed him Member of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), one of the highest honours in Britain. His last destiny before being sent to Gibraltar were the submarines class Trafalgar which took part in the campaigns of Afganistan and Iraq.

White lived alone in the Mount Barbary mansion, which is prepared to host a family and a large service. But he was attended by only one maid who didn't live in the mansion. His military aide found his corpse on saturday evening. Yesterday, a coroner arrived from London to perform an autopsy.

The job of military chief in command of Gibraltar is of great strategic sensibility. Under White's control there was the entire military base of the Rock, which includes nuclear submarines, the airport reserved to the British Air Forces, and a complex system of communications with a wide capacity to collect data.

Seems as if the flaship of Britishism, the 'gentry', is a source for pervertion and degeneration. I remember the case of some Lord Justice years ago being framed while engaging in s&m gaming with a prostitute, and while he had a stocking covering his face. There is also other 'minor' cases such as that of Lord Archey, former Tory deputy chairman.
