Default Madonna's Hotel Kabbalah?

Madonna's Hotel Kabbalah?

Apparently, Madonna's devotion to Kabbalah is carrying over into the hospitality field.

If the Material Girl gets her way, she'll soon be building a Kabbalah-themed hotel and drop-in center in London's Regent Park district.

The singer has reportedly dropped $2.9 million on a five-story Georgian mansion that she plans to convert into a getaway for her fellow devotees of the religious sect. However, neighbors of the proposed project are reportedly less than enthused at the prospect of a Kabbalah center in the neighborhood.

"Having a Kabbalah center would be totally inappropriate," one resident told London's Evening Standard. "It is a seriously manipulative sect which is very good at getting people's money, including Madonna's."
Madonna, who's known as Esther in Kabbalah circles, has already spent $6.5 million on a headquarters for the sect in London's West End and is at work on a multimillion-dollar New York center.

Kabbalah, a controversial mystical offshoot of Judaism, has won many high-profile followers, including Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher.

Madonna, who was raised Catholic, is emphatic that her devotion to Kabbalah has not damaged her career.

"I do know that there's cynicism involved but I accept it because it's different," the "Like a Prayer" singer told NBC. "It's something new to people and people are always guarded and suspicious of things that are new."

Proving her dedication to her faith, Madonna featured Kabbalah images on her re-Invention Tour last year and has published a series of kiddie books featuring themes from the religion's teachings. Her fifth and final book, Lotsa de Casha, was released stateside this week, prompting a series of interviews and a 15-page cover story for the July issue of Ladies' Home Journal, which will hit newsstands on Tuesday.

I always suspected that some Jews got a kick out of the idea of taking a Catholic girl called "Madonna", making her a sexually provocative (and at times almost blasphemous) star before eventually she turns to Jewish occultism.

Perhaps it's just my paranoid mind though

The traditions of the Irish people are the oldest of any race in Europe north and west of the Alps, and they themselves are the longest settled on their own soil
- Edmund Curtis (A History of Ireland: From Earliest Times to 1922)

The Irish are one of the most ancient nations that I know of at this end of the world, and are from as mighty a race as the world ever brought forth.
For it is certain that Ireland hath had the use of letters very anciently and long before England; that they had letters anciently is nothing doubtful, for the Saxons of England are said to have their letters and learning, and learned men, from the Irish.
- Edmund Spenser (writer, and British Government Official in Ireland, AD 1596).

The renaissance began in Ireland seven hundred years before it was known in Italy. And Armagh, the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland, was at one time the metropolis of civilisation.
- Arsene Darmesteter, Professor of Old French and Literature

Ireland can indeed lay claim to a great past; she can not only boast of having been the birthplace and abode of high culture in the fifth and sixth centuries . . . but also of having made strenous efforts in the seventh and up to the tenth century to spread her learning among the German and Romance peoples, thus forming the actual fountain of our present continental civilisation.
- Heinrich Zimmer, Professor of Celtic and Sanskrit, Member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences

She is joke, as well as all her other Hollywood pals. I think that these "causes" and whatnots these people take up are ridiculous, but then again, I guess the idiots of society need someone to follow.
