With a dissertation like that, it's likely the doctorate was more "honorary" than anything else. Ideally, a doctorate should be earnt somewhere between the ages of 25 and 30, be at a ranking research university (like Cambridge), with a renowned academic as a research advisor, and with a dissertation that creates a stir in academic circles. Then the holder of the doctorate has a chance at a career.
