91-year-old receives PhD

A 91-year-old former soldier Michael Cobb has become one of the oldest people to receive a doctorate from Cambridge University.
The World War II veteran earned his PhD by creating an atlas of railway stations built in Britain between 1807 and 1994.

With a dissertation like that, it's likely the doctorate was more "honorary" than anything else. Ideally, a doctorate should be earnt somewhere between the ages of 25 and 30, be at a ranking research university (like Cambridge), with a renowned academic as a research advisor, and with a dissertation that creates a stir in academic circles. Then the holder of the doctorate has a chance at a career.

Yeah, I already see crowds of people lining up in long queues in front of bookshops, waiting impatiently to buy his book, the atlas of railway stations. He will surely earn millions on royalties.
