Tirana, Albania, the country's capital city, suffered a 72 hour blackout due to a cat chasing a mouse in the main power station Friday. "A cat and mouse ran into the high-voltage cables," a spokeswoman said, showing pictures of electrocuted animals.

Most Tirana homes and shops rely on petrol generators as power cuts have plagued them for decades. Albanians have complained bitterly about the power cuts and have blamed them mostly on the drought and dilapidation of the communist-era grid.
