POREÈ -- Seagulls are causing panic in schools along the Croatian coast, reports say.
Some schools have been forced to cancel break-time because the birds are snatching food from out of children's hands.
Under literal bombardment from the ravenous birds, schools have had to cancel breaks for pupils out of safety reasons, agencies report.
The problem is believed to have been caused by the birds’ ever increasing numbers, forcing them to scavenge for food in rubbish bins.
A local authority official from Poreč said that it had become too dangerous for pupils to venture outside any longer.
“We simply have to solve this situation before it gets out of hand,” he said.
