There is somekind of genetic relation between the color of hair and eyes so that light hair does not occur with dark eyes according to this source.
THE HEREDITY OF EYE COLOR AND HAIR COLOR IN MAN -- HOLMES and LOOMIS 18 (1): 50 -- The Biological Bulletin However, my brother has naturally a blonde hair and brown eyes like in this picture even as an adult: ![]() How common is this phenomenon? What kind of statistical evidence there is about the color of eyes that accompanies various kinds of pigmentation of hair? Last edited by Tennyson; Friday, January 12th, 2007 at 07:25. |

Hardly a phenomenon. It's rather common.

If somebody can provide statistics about this they would allow us to crudely determine how the amount of mixture between different sub-races in Europe.

Depigmentation of the skin and eyes do not correlate.
As I remember from the statistics, frequency of light eyes tends to increase further west to Ireland. Light hair, on the other hand, reaches it's highest frequencies amongst the Baltic states. Blonde hair & brown eyes tend to be found quite commonly amongst the descendents of the Lithuanian community around here. Dark hair and light eyes, on the other and, tends to be associated with an "Irish look". So my experience at least tends to back up these figures.

The traditions of the Irish people are the oldest of any race in Europe north and west of the Alps, and they themselves are the longest settled on their own soil - Edmund Curtis (A History of Ireland: From Earliest Times to 1922) The Irish are one of the most ancient nations that I know of at this end of the world, and are from as mighty a race as the world ever brought forth. For it is certain that Ireland hath had the use of letters very anciently and long before England; that they had letters anciently is nothing doubtful, for the Saxons of England are said to have their letters and learning, and learned men, from the Irish. - Edmund Spenser (writer, and British Government Official in Ireland, AD 1596). The renaissance began in Ireland seven hundred years before it was known in Italy. And Armagh, the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland, was at one time the metropolis of civilisation. - Arsene Darmesteter, Professor of Old French and Literature Ireland can indeed lay claim to a great past; she can not only boast of having been the birthplace and abode of high culture in the fifth and sixth centuries . . . but also of having made strenous efforts in the seventh and up to the tenth century to spread her learning among the German and Romance peoples, thus forming the actual fountain of our present continental civilisation. - Heinrich Zimmer, Professor of Celtic and Sanskrit, Member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences |

I agree. I prefer that combination over blonde and blue eyes. Though my prefered combo is dark hair and green eyes.
It's about personal preferences, sure. I even prefer blue eyes in combination with dark hair.

Blonde hair very well fits with brown or green eyes (and green eyes are nicer than blue ones).
