Mod for Half Life (1) :

Day of Defeat is a 3D multiplayer shooter that simulates infantry battle between the adversaries of World War II's European Theatre : The Allies or The Axis Powers. The goal is to complete various mission objectives.
Players choose which side they will fight on and what character class their soldier will be. There are unique soldier classes for the Allies (United States and United Kingdom) and the Axis (Nazi Germany). Class determines which weapons the player will carry, and their appearance.
A round begins with two opposing teams starting simultaneously in their respective spawn area of a map. A round ends when one team accomplishes all of its objectives.
Player casualties become reinforcements which are supplied according to a timer. The reinforcements originate at spawn and can be composed of anywhere from 1 soldier to the entire team. The reinforcement timer is usually between 10-20 seconds, but this time may vary from server to server.
Like other Half-Life mods, Day of Defeat tracks each player's accomplishment of team objectives, how many enemies each player has killed and how many times each player has died. The game also tallies these statistics for the entire team, this reflects the team's score which is primarily based on objectives.
After many rounds, the game ends when a set time limit expires, and the team with the most objectives achieved is the winning team regardless of kills or casualties, except in the case where both teams have not achieved any objectives or are tied in the objective score. The scoreboard is displayed and the game is restarted, usually with another map. There really is no "The End" to Day of Defeat.

I played Counter-Strike once at my boyfriend's house when he went to go to the toilet and get a cup of tea.

He was surprised when I had 35 kills and was first place on the server when he came back

I want to play that game!

It sems impressive. It can be ridiculious sometimes when mods are better than the actual game. But I have a problem with world war II games for some reason, they all just seem to generic to me..all pretty much the same. The first world war II shooter I ever played was Medal of honor for playstation..last one I played was Call of duty III for the Nintendo Wii and honestly, There is differences but not drastic.
I guess I just rather stick to the infernal world war II strategy classic Panzer General II

I prefer play Axis in Dod but not for historical reason.
Their firearms are better IMO. Particularly this one :

Well I would play Axis too. I just wouldn't shoot my grandfather (British engineer in north africa)

When I was a kid, after watching all those anti-German Hollywood movies, my sympathies were for the allies, but after growing up, studing the similarities between WW2 and the Spanish Civil War, and other factors, all my sympathies go to the Axis.

Aswell my Great-Uncle enlisted himself as a volunteer in the 250 Division of the Wehrmacht, he fought in the Russian front when he was only 16, near Leningrad, in Volkhov. He was only 160 cm tall, but he received the Iron Cross for saving a comrade's life, who had been shot and my Great-Uncle could take him back to the trench.

I have DoD as well as Counterstrike 1.6 installed. If you ever want to play a few games then hit me up. I mostly play Counterstrike, though, so I'm not all that great. I noticed mostly French people playing DoD, much more so than CS... is there a reason for this?

I only play gears of war...on my xbox 360.

Yes the console controller seems a little dificult to manage at first...but I am unable to return to mouse and keyboard...
feals like cheating...

Dunno. Unfortunately, here Counter Strike is more popular. I know the CS Breton team is the best of "France".
