Well, as far as I know if the license plate is void the seals are either scraped off or otherwise defaced. At least here if you de-register your car the license plates are collected and destroyed by the registration office.

I don't think thats quite legal.
![]() Btw. I checked most plates in Europe are generic just as those in the US...in fact since each US state has different plate US plates are far more diverse than those of most countries. The only countries with diverse CoA's on their plates as AFAIK are Switzerland(cantons), Austria(provinces), Slovenia(muncipalities-towns). ...and Germany (landers), Italy has a blue stripe in the right of the plate with the province name, there is a project in Spain to put the Autonomic Community flag in the right of the plate but it is going slow.
I think Ireland and France have numbers or letters in the plate to differenciate different departments and provinces, could anyone confirm this please? |

For it is certain that Ireland hath had the use of letters very anciently and long before England; that they had letters anciently is nothing doubtful, for the Saxons of England are said to have their letters and learning, and learned men, from the Irish. - Edmund Spenser (writer, and British Government Official in Ireland, AD 1596). ![]() |
