Holy cow! Looks promising. AoE II was one of the few games I played in my life. DirectX 9.0 rules.

The old trick of switching to 640x480 and playing the games on TV still works for me.

good god..
I had being following the previews of this at heavengames.com
it looks incredible. I wonder if it will only picture what was going on in the world during the colonial times, or if it will also cover what was going on in Europe during this time. Would be great to see wars between the Ottomans and Europeans with that engine!

Looks nice, thankfully I got a new PC only a few months ago and will handle it nicely.

I thought Age of Mythology was AOE III. Dammit!

I'm playing Battle for Middle Earth just now, too addicted to that at the moment

It looks great, but i'd hate to think of what it will do to my computer.
One of the Screenies even has steam train in it. Maybe this will be the game to bring me back to the (somewhat static) RTS genre.

btw. It is said that AOE3 implements the havoc physics engine, similar to that of Half-Life2 and Doom3.

Oh, i love RTW, but its not an RTS in the same vein as AoE/typical Blizzard game/etc.
That is to say, those type of games seem to revolve around who can order their peasants/grunts around and build stuff the quickest.
RTW, by seperating the strategical from the tactical (map mode and battle mode) creates a different game. The battle aspect is meaner and better, and the building aspect more refined (in theory at least, RTW could have been better in that front, but its still a great game, don't get me wrong).

Oh... agreed.

I'm currently playing with Parthia on RTW, and I can't expand in any way.
I make no money at all. When I played with Greeks, Romans and Macedonians,
I had like hundreds of thousands of denarii, and with Parthians I'm happy if I have 2000.

Any advices?

I have RTW, I didn't play it much really as I spend most of my PC time on the Internet discussing. I only have an ongoing campaign with the Julii. I eradicated the Gauls, have Northern Italy, Austria, most of France, and parts of Spain in my control, add Sardinia and the Balearic Islands... Damn, I'm going to play it now... AVE ROMA!
