I am planning on making this trip. If anyone has any ideas outside of the usual sights that I can find in a guide book, I would love to hear some advices. Places, art, food (!), hotels, general advices, the route, etc.

I´m sure it´s in the guide books, but anyway.

Kalmar Castle in Kalmar. Because it´s our best kept renessaince castle and served a significant role in the Swedish - Danish common history.

Skokloster Castle outside Stockholm. Because it´s our best kept barock castle and has one of Europes largest armoury.

Livrustkammaren in Stockholm is also always worth a visit. Among other rare artifacts they have the uniform that Karl XII weared when he died.

I do not know how long you are going to be in Danzig (Gdansk), but if you had the time I would not doubt to visit the Castle of Marienburg (Malbork), that is just 60km from the city.
