The funny thing is that I was just reading about valenki in Solzhenitsyn's "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich". It's good to see a picture of them. I think I'd have to wear five layers of socks to keep my feet from sliding around in them.

Anyway, on the topic of glamour over style; I'd say that style - or sense of self - should be celebrated while glamour should be looked down upon.
