The Republic of Dubrovnik cooperated with virtually everyone in those times: with the Ottoman Empire, the Kingdom of Naples, the Republic of Venice, with Spain, later with Russia. So it is not astonishing if some Ragusans took part in the Spanish adventure in the New World.
