Marko Attila Hoare is a kind of neocon who believes in the universal mission of the "Western world" to impose its "values" everywhere (thus his support for Iraq and Afghanistan wars), Balkans - and the whole of Europe - included. Far from being too pro-Croatian, he is simply "pro-democratic", supporting the current Croatian "pro-European" government against any nationalist force which could threaten it. In the past he denounced Croatian nationalists who opposed the cooperation with the Hague tribunal. He has similar attitude towards Serbia, where he supports the "pro-European" government of Boris Tadić against any challenges from the nationalist (radicals etc) camp. And - of course - he supports the "independence" of Kosovo. His neoconnish attitudes include also a strong anti-Russian sentiment, especially visible in his recent absolute support for Georgia in the Ossetian conflict.
Whilst I do not agree with his overall worldview, I agree with some of the things he said in the article posted by Monolith, where he lashes out at certain left-wing school of thought which laments too much over the demise of Yugoslavia, the once "socialist paradise" (so they think), which they think was destroyed by independentists of Croatia and Slovenia. Hence their apology of Miloević's Serbia of the nineties which they see as a force bent on preserving Yugoslavia.
