An interesting video about subculture of immigrants from Balkan (mostly Bosnia and Serbia) and Slovenia, and what I would call a degeneration of Serbian culture, typical to American degeneration of European culture(s) (Italian-Americans, Spanish-Americans, Irish-Americans etc.). The first part of the video is from some documentary about immigrants that came here in 70is, while second part is more interesting because it shows the 3rd generation of immigrants. It is also interesting to note that there is no trace of any Balkan conflicts between immigrants of different (Balkan) origin here, but they are all "brothers" and "čefurji" and share common anti-Slovenian mentality.

Even in a one-party-system it is mentally easier to be "in the opposition", "against the system". In the two-party-system (which is in fact one-party-system as well), on the other hand, if the left is currently in the office and you are opposed to the system, it is automatically assumed that you are a "rightist", ie. supporter of the party of the right. And vice versa. Most people refuse to see that the two major parties are in fact one and the same party. Thus the liberal democracy, especially in its venomous two-party variety, is the most successful system of totalitarian manipulation ever invented. Each of the two parties usually has a very dedicated voting herd, needless to say." - "Marcus Marulus", Stirpes forum member |

cefurji.net
I was just reminded of this website. Official website of Balkan immigrants in Slovenia, also a lot of Slovenians post there. If I was Serb, I would be VERY angry at those guys for making a mockery of my nation.

Not all immigrants are like them, that has to be pointed out. Especially among Croats here it's a rather rear thing, I can't really remember any Croat "čefur" at the moment, although there are surely some, but very few compared to other Balkan (or ex-Yu) immigrants.

Vincent I won't answer on your cynical provocation. I see you can't sleep well at night because I'm a Croat, and you're Serb. What's your point man?
Maybe you didn't get me in the right way. If you've some problems with me please PM me and lets talk. I don't wont to turn the whole debate in freeposting. M.R this guy has no clue about the situation in Slovenia. "Čefurs" have followers even around Croats and Slovenians, that just make the situation worst. |

Are they sort of like the gopniki in Russia?

It's rather in opposite order. The term was first used for Bosniaks only, I think. As for Macedonians, I didn't see any čefurji waving Macedonian flag or making a parody out of Macedonian identity, so probably there aren't much Macedonian čefurji in Slovenia.

Btw, just so you know, I'm neutral on this Macedonia name thing, I used the name because we call them so in Slovenia.
