Citizens support Kosovo division

BELGRADE -- Thursday – A majority of Serbia-Montenegro citizens believe that dividing Kosovo between ethnic groups and communities is the best solution for the region.

According to results of a survey done by the Institute of Civil Science and Political Research, 57 percent of citizens in Serbia and 39 percent of Montenegrins support a division of Kosovo's territory.

In Montenegro, 22 percent oppose this idea while in Serbia only 19 percent are against it. In Serbia, 48 percent of the population believes that Kosovo is a lost cause, while 34 do not agree.

When looking at political orientation, G17 Plus Party supporters back the plan of dividing Kosovo into Serbian and Albanian communities most, with 78 percent of the party's supporters for it. Behind them in order are supporters of the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party of Serbia, the Serbian National Party and the Socialist National Party.

The survey was conducted between December 10-21 of last year around the territory of Serbia-Montenegro, excluding the Kosovo region.(Beta)

I see this happening in other areas of Europe as well where the minority becomes the majority therefore wants to secede from the "hands that fed them".In 1922 the population of the town of Prizren was 98% Serbian,now it is 100% Albanian, a major shift in less than 100 years.

In 1991, Pakrac was 50% serbian and in 2001 there's about 5%... Major shift in 10 years...

Most towns in Sirmium and Boka Kotorska were largely Croatian, today they are motly Serbian.

Population shifts happen all the time...it's a natural way for all things.

Teško da će Kosovo dugo ostati van Srbije, čal i ako ode.

I istraživanje je pokazalo da u crnoj Gori ima više hard-core Srba (ili makar optimista), nego u Srbiji , čime su se Crnogorci ionako i dičili.
