hej Hrvoje, zakaj nas ne maraš?
jaz osebno nimam nič proti vam. In proti Srbom tud ne. En razlog zakaj večina Slovencev ne mara Hrvatov je "dobra stara slovenska fovšarija". |

I don't have problem with any Slavic nation really, just with some Slavic immigrants in my country. I have nothing against Serbs who live in their country, in fact I was to Serbia and I met good people there.
I feel close to Croats as we're both Catholic nations and we've never been in a war yet, which is rare for two neighbouring nations. I never had much contact with other Slavs...

Bulgarians are not slavic - if you visit bulgaria and then visit every other slavic coutry(exept FYROM) you will see that we don't have anything in common.
|
|
|||
|
then what are you if you are not slavic??

They are not Slavic , they fight agains and finaly make peace with them.
They came from Central Asia to Ukraine in the 5 th century. It was a big nation , not that little country that we know now. |

Yet the Bulgarian language is Slavic, and the Bulgarians are at least partly descendants of Slavic peoples, who mixed with locals, just like our western neighbours in Serbia, for instance. Depending on which theory you trust, we can say that Bulgarians are culturally Slavo-Bolgar, Slavo-Turkic, Slavo-Pamiri, Slavo-Altaic or whatever term one finds fitting.

Many historians have believed that the ancient Bulgars were a Turkic people. However, I think that it is more plausible to think that they were related to the Indo-Iranian Sarmatians or the Indo-European Scythians.
This map gives the location of the Sarmatians and the Scythians in the year ~100 BC ![]() Now compare it with the location of the Bulgars ~650 AD ![]() Some interesting information on the Proto-Bulgars: Rasho Rashev - On the origin of the Proto-Bulgarians (1992)

Late 5th Century following the collapse of the Hunnish Empire - The peoples on the Great Steppe are Turkic and Ugric, or combinations thereof; ![]() The Turyut Kaganat 550 - 600; ![]() ![]() A lot happened between 100 BC and 650 AD, most significantly the Turkicisation of the Steppe. The Scythians had already been displaced by the Sarmatians from the east, but hot on their heels were the Huns themselves. The Tyurkut consolidated this. Iranians formed only a substrate to this. And the descendants of Volga Bulgaria are the Chuvash, who speak the most archaic and divergent Turkic language. Some Bulgarians have an understandable wish to distance themselves from the name 'Turkic' but this is only a result of the secondary meaning that name earned in Anatolia. Original northern Turkics [with an undoubted Iranian componant] are completely different from Ottoman Bashi Bazooks, and it's unfortunate that the latter have given the former a bad name. I really have nothing against other slavic nations, real nations since I do not consider Vardarskians (FYROM, a.k.a. Macedonia) to be nation but an artificial communist creation of historical Serbian & Bulgarian population and I do not consider Bosniaks not to be a nation since their notion of nation is entirely based on religion and I find that flawed and I consider their nationhood an artificial creation. I have nothing against Montenegrins (my family being from Montenegro and the fact that I consider Montenegrins to be part of the Serbian nation). I'm some what hostile to Croatia, but I consider them and Serbs to be one nation to a degree. I have nothing against Bulgarians (even though their ethnogenesis can not be considered Slavic), Russians, Ukrainians, Belarussians, Slovaks, Czechs or smaller nations (e.g. Rusyns and Gorani). I only have problems with Poles due to the fact that every Pole I've ever met is extremely anti-Russian.

Russians, Belorussians- favorite Slavs, I believe Serbia should continue to devolop a flourishing relationship with them
Bulgarians- no problem, generally ok Poles- generally piss me off because of the anti-Russian behavior, far too liberal Czechs- same as poles, much to atheistic Slovaks- the nationalist ones are awesome, some of the only Catholic Slavs I respect Slovenes-the nationalist ones are great but liberalism is far to prevalent in that country Croats- I am generally hostile to them since most of the Croats I have met are the Ustasha loving, Serb hating type Vardarskans- Serbs and Bulgars Bosniaks- constructed nation, has no real history Montenegrins- THEY ARE SERBS |

What are people's views on the really small slavic groups or sub-groups with in the above nations. I'm referring to groups like Gorani, Pomaks, Rusyns and others?

Actually I like all my Slavic brothers, even Polish
The best Slavic nations for me are Belorusyns, Croats, Macedonians. the worsest - Sorbs and Kashubians Because i have never seen any, and i have never heard their languages ![]() |

I like Sorbs, they are the only people in Europe (beside Slovenians) who have dual number in their language.
That makes them cool.
