French President Nicolas Sarkozy has launched a new international body with 43 member nations aimed at ending conflict in the Middle East.

The Union for the Mediterranean will tackle issues such as regional unrest, immigration to pollution.

What would such alliance be, if not solely a linguistic one? It basically means that all European Romance nations can form their own alliance, and accept the entire Southern America as members.

On the French strategy, it was said that their African empire was built in reaction to losing Alsace/Lorraine in 1870. Bismarck encouraged them too, so they would occupy themselves elsewhere. I wonder if there's a similar geopolitical reason for them siding with the Arabs today?

Slavic nations have their right to choose, sure, but why would they die (out) in the first place? Historia est magistra vitae, and every alliance with 'fellow' Slavs was only detrimental for my people so far. So I guess you could say that I'm opposed to any globalist alliance, be it meta-ethnic or any other for that matter, because it would eventually come down to an infamous American 'melting pot' concept.

Slavs are last representatives of original native European (not only European) population and culture. Speaking about Slavs, we must be aware that we speak of ancient people, which very early developed into unique civilization on inter-continental level.

Slavs, in their languages and in their custums preserved archaic elements which can reveal us the secrets of very genesis of White race. Even genetic science proved this.

Slavs mixed with virtually everyone they encountered. I don't see how could they be the last representatives of original native European population, since it is obvious that the entire Western Europe is autochthonous (judging from the observed frequency of R1b marker there), and since there are Basques who speak a non-IE language.

Genetics only proved that Slavs are pretty heterogeneous.

You came to wrong forum, here it's more about nationalism and the most far we go is some form of cooperation between European nations (notice European, that automaticaly excludes Slavic, Germanic or whatever alliances), not for some unions...

This Slavic union ideas come mostly from people of mixed Slavic background or "bigger" Slavic nations, we "smaller" nations usualy see a threat of loosing our unique tradition and culture in this vast unity, which is in this case build on linguistics more then anything else.

Let's say for a moment that it is true that once Slavs were some giant ancient tribe, or even "civilization", for the sake of argument, this is completly irrelevant for individual Slavic nations now as they have developed their own identities trough time, not to mention mixing with native populations and their cultures, to the point when we are quite different people.

For big majority of people national identity is what matters here and they will stick to it rather than to some unions on more or less artificial grounds.

its quite normal that Slavs are geneticaly heterogeneous when they are ethos on inter-continental level since time immemorial

racial sub-types are of course expected here
