If Im not mistaken, Tacitus recorded the same thing in his Germania, so this is hardly new.

Most of our notions of romantic love came from the Latins. From Ovid's "the Art of Love" to courtly love of the Middle Ages. The stereotypical image of the chivalric male lover is usually a Latin(French or Italian).


On a personal note, it might also explain my general preference for Latin women over their German counter-parts.

But in the end, these are polls reflecting the characteristics of a segment of population, there are other factors that should be taken into consideration before making generalisations, like the number, origin and social status of the surveyed. Also, have in matter the fact that Germany is a country with a big unemployment problem and an agining population.
