International Consultation on English Texts translation
as printed in:
The Lutheran Book of Worship
The Book of Common Prayer (Episcopal)

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

I should say that I didn't post the Nicene Creed in order to kill the conversation. I just thought it is best to go to primary texts when people want to talk about "who is who and what is what".

I'm agnostic myself but if people are asking "what is Christianity" then the Nicene Creed is a basic text. I just don't like strawman arguements.

No religion for me.

As a "third position" gnostic, direct contact without no middle men, prophets or priests is the point. And neither is my Lord religious, so we understand each other very well on that...

I am an atheist. I don´t believe in a supernatural creation God. In my opinion, the existence and non-existence of God cannot be proved. I reject the Roman Catholic Church as an organization, because it should be classified as a tax payer like any other European organization and Europeans. I reject its corrupt capitalistic behaviour financed by Opus Dei. I hope I won´t get banned for this message.
Cheers

No, you won't get banned for this message, as long as you keep a civilized behaviour (wich seems to be the case so far), but you'll have to prepare some solid argumentation rather than this simplistic anti-Catholic propaganda. That was rather MTV level.

Anti-Catholic propaganda? Don´t know why are you jumping to extremes...
I clearly understand the difference between religion and organization.
I have read the Bible and I know the main points of it. If you think I am against you as a Roman Catholic, then you are wrong. And I didn´t say I have anything against Roman Catholicism-ever person believes in what they want to... But I have made a clear opinion why does the RCC disturb me.

Then you're no atheist An atheist clarely denies the existence of any supernatoral powers, such as a god.
I guess what you mean is Agnosticism.

But I don't like the Christian idealogy either; because of the chasm propagated between creator and creation; for me "god" becomes manifested in his creation; it's the elementary power and musn't be personalised.

Why? These are political nationalist forums. Not religious.

You have not. You have given your opinion of why the Opus Dei disturbs you.

Opus Dei is a shame, it revolves around a message almost identical to that of the Protestant Ethic and Capitalism. It is a product of decadence within Rome, but not representative of Catholicism as such.

The second part of his sentence would point to that. But on the first part of the sentence, the comment about "supernatural" could drift away from Agnosticism.

That's a very universalist thought. Though religion focuses on the existance of God and of Creation, it has many elements which are different among different peoples, and which explain God according to the different culture and tradition.

That it mustn't be personalised is of course at odds with Christian thought.

But I'm not sure there's a definite break between Christianity and God being manifest in creation. Quite many Christian thinkers, from antiquity up until this day, have argued that God is manifest in nature.

This is surely out of question; but what christian religion is really about is the faith, that gods creation, thus human beings, has to worship, the creator, they are not on the same level, that is what I mean. Man has to be abject, whereas I am of the opinion, that man has to love "gods" creation, instead of the creator; I mean it doesn't matter who created but what has been created. The christian religion is still too jewish. The human being is in some way a creator himself.
