Although I was baptized and mainly raised as Roman Catholic as I grow older I find the dogma taught by all religions a bit abhorrent and a bit backward as it creates conflict between people and other religions.

Basically I do believe that there is something similar to a God but I don't believe in the Christian dogma although I do accept Christian values fully and respect my Christian Catholic heritage. In any case that would qualify as Deism.

Some will find this weird as I had 'Roman Catholic' in my profile for some time...this was because I didn't know what to write so I just wrote the religion I was raised in...more-less. Then I put Atheism not so long ago as I realized I don't really believe in God...at least as Church presents it, but lately I did some research and realized my views are completly identical to Deism understanding. So there you go.

Deism it's not really a religion but more a philosophical view on what we call "God" and contemplation of similar ideas.

I would like to correct the producer of this thread with the fact that the Uniate Church does not mean an Ukrainian Church, but it is a Church created in the Austro-Hungarian Empire around 1700 in order to give the right to Orthodox people to equal opportunities in the Empire along with the other religions. So, you may find it in Ukraine, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and perhaps in Serbia, too.

Yes it means borderland. However an alternative name for us has always been Ruthenia, which dates back to at least the time of Charlamenge. Ukraine first emerged during the Hetmanate to describe its position between the Catholic West and Orthodox East.

The main difference between the Orthodox and Catholic in Ukraine is basically one follows the Pope, the other doesnt. We both follow the same Eastern Christian rites.

Uniats (unijati) is name in Serbia for that.We follow old calendary, but many Orthodoh turned to new.Today is Serbian Orthodox St. Nikolas, celebrity of my family and I cheers all of you! Having of family celebration of some saint is not common for all Orthodox,it is customs of Serbs only.Difference between calendars is 13 days.

Well be careful when using the term Uniate, many Eastern Catholics are actually offended by the term.

It's ok.....I'm just telling you to avoid any trouble in the future. Eastern Catholics for the most part dont mind honest use of the term.

The same thing could be used as an argument against nationalism.

A coincidence?
