I scored 14. What a boring test.
The first book on the subject Autism/Aspbergers was "Autism" by Eugen Bleuler in 1911. The thing with Aspbergers is that you cant aquire it later on in life, the diagnose is evident while you are a very small child. But there are psychological problems with some simmilarities to Aspbergers like if you go into a depression or have social fobia, but this shouldnt be mistaken for the real thing. A person with Aspbergers has a very hard time to understand how things are connected in life so they dwell on details and special interests. They can name all cathedrals in France but they cant organize their own daily rutines. People with Aspbergers have a very hard time with eye contact, they can never mesure the time they can look at someone so either the have a very sporadic eyecontact or a glaring stare. They think that everyone knows what they know, for example if you hide a pencil in a bag in front of a person with Aspbergers they will automaticly think that the next person that comes in looking for that pencil will know that it is in the bag. If you have Aspbergers you have it for life and all you can do is to learn the social rules even if you dont understand them. Im highly sceptical of the list of famous people that supposedly had Aspbergers including corporate leaders and politicians. A person with Aspbergers wouldnt have the social skill or situation awareness to be able to get to that kind of position. http://forum.stirpes.net/showthread....8&page=1&pp=20 Its a myth that people with Aspbergers are superintelligent, the IQ range follows the population average. |

I scored 34, but I wouldn't class myself as Aspergers, or even mildly autistic. I think that over the years though, I have become better at "getting on with people" and "not saying the wrong thing". Even now though, I still upset people with inappropriate comments and have to do a lot of patching-up. My mother told me I was obsessed with numbers and especially car number plates as a child - oh dear.

BTW the deviser of the autism test pointed out in a earlier post: Simon Baron-Cohen, is a relation (brother or cousin) of Sacha Baron-Cohen aka. Borat/Ali G. Small world.

I have already been diagnosed with this 'debilitating disorder'.
![]() Here are some wackos' takes on it: http://www.backlash.com/content/disa...wal042904.html http://www.rdos.net/eng/asperger.htm I'll try to find an article I read recently about how this diagnosis is being used to present intelligence as pathological. |

One look at the people involved with Mensa made me look into the other direction, although I passed their test.

I did not notice any females here. But they could not have been any worse than the guys.

I was in Mensa when I was a child. At the time I couldn't talk to everyday people as they couldn't understand what I was talking about and I didn't understand them. I left as it felt like being stuck with a bunch of social misfits who happened to be intelligent but hopeless at anything of value. I didn't notice many of the fairer sex there either. The thing I learnt as a child is that everyday people don't think and don't want to think, otherwise they might start having to face their mortality and irrelevence to this world or the universe.

Hehe... a colleague of mine asked me to give him something
interesting to read. I suggested he takes a very humorous booklet called "how to ruin your own life". He hysterically refused ... "I cannot read that!!!" he said. ![]() |

Geniuses tend to be eccentrics? Sounds very plausible and is corroborated by evidence. But it doesn't certainly infer the opposite, namely, that an eccentric must be a genius. |

Asperger syndrome is interesting.
Just recently about a year ago I found out one of my oldest best friends has it. I would have never imagined. Pretty normal person except for the fact he gets obsessive over what he likes.

Maybe I have a mild form.
I often started reading magazines from the last page to the first, I'm pedantic and obsessive when I pursue a goal, i try to learn as much as I can until I get a perfectly clear picture of the state of the art. maybe i'm just serious. For me the best part in any activity is learning, disassembling the mechanisms and learn the techniques of the craft.

I think it's possible I have it but I refuse to see anyone about my mentality because I'd rather be myself and crazy than someone else and normal. <3
People with Asperger's are pretty normal, they can function. I know several.
