The types of questions asked of children impact the way children respond to interview questions. Researchers have found that children are more likely to disagree with a biasing question than a non-biasing question. The findings also show that adults are more likely to ask biasing questions when a child is already disagreeing. This means that children, not interviewers, often drive interviews. These findings have profound implications on using the testimony of children in legal disputes.
