John Taylor Gatto is the most out-spoken critic of the modern-day school system of America. His has expanded his criticism to the very concept of compulsory schooling as such, claiming that it's main goal is to created dumbed-down slaves of the modern consumerist corporate system. He is highly controversial, maybe too radical. He has written already a few books on tha subject.

From what I know, the American education system works in a way to allow the ones at the bottom to slip further into the bottom and for the ones with a brain to get higher to the top. This doesn't work very well I think. There is more people at the bottom than the top..
