Default Maintaining Mental Health

Maintaining perfect sanity in our time of neuroticism and cognitive dissonance can be hard. Especially the gifted ones will often feel powerless and depressed by the magnitude of irrationality and shallowness they face every day, which can lead to a serious full-scale depression. This is not the only cause for ill mental balance, bad relationships and environmental abuse also count, since things like this tend to run together accumulating to the ill climax.
The first and foremost important aspect of getting to better mental view is to build up a strong sense of control and achieving. The keyword is organization and having everything in its proper place your life, as it builds character and boosts confidence.
Things which will affect your mental balance the most:
  • Work
Real physical work can be highly liberating and immersing in that it wears out the body, keeps the mind still and afterwards gives a great sensation of having done something useful. Unfortunately our society tends to go to the direction of less and less physical effort which is a sure correlation with how mentally balanced people feel, and consequently the oppourtunities to honourable physical labour, i.e. work in the field, are really scarce.
Job is an important aspect for human being, as we indentify through it, it gives us material sustenance, and throught it we involve ourselves with our community. Therefore it makes a sense to think of job as an honourable commitment and see that it does fullfil the same high standards as you have with other activities: it doesn't risk you integrity (phone advertising) and it's genuinely useful (unlike flipping burgers).
Use poor jobs only as temporary solutions.
    Exercise
Adequate physical activity is necessary for a body rooted in the world fluctuating of resistances. Those in poor physical shape may expect to be viewed in a less flattering light than had they looked after their condition – it's a pre-programmed feature in humans to recognize health and vigour.
Besides being genuinely a wise choice for health and well-being, losing extra pounds and gaining some visible muscle will also provide you a giant boost in self-confidence.
    Sleep
This is another feature which you can't afford to neglect: many studies have shown that sleep affects both the bodily recovery and mental abilities. Getting the right dose of sleep will wake you up full of enery and enthusiasm for the new day of brilliant possibilities.
If you suffer insomnia, don't use pills to cover that. These don't work, since they don't medicate the real cause behind sleeplessness. Instead try daily exercising and breaking any bad habits which may make it hard to fall asleep: eating late and irregular sleeping patterns are the most important ones.
    Diet
Eat healthy, all-round, local and organic. Avoid GM stuff and industrialized meat: they are both suspicious in their actual content and the idea of giving respect for the organism's offer of life. Don't buy into what the so-called experts tell you about the latest intake and dietary recommendations. Your ancestor fared very well on their traditional diet, thus it must be valid now too. As with sleeping, eating in regular times makes your body pleased: the energy levels stay steady and you can avoid snacking.
    Friends
Humans are social animals, therefore we need social interaction for mental well-being. Having a handful of trustworthy friends and good family relations is highly beneficial, since it may even help you to land to the right job. True friends are a rare commodity far more valuable than any mineral dug up from soil and stone, especially in the time of urgent need. Don't lose them!
    Entertainment
You will eventually face a time when you want to relax but don't let this be an excuse to revert to consuming vapid and trendy products. Quality entertainment can be sought from quality art, hobbies and traditional activities such as folk music and folklore.
    Small everyday routines
Although they only take a small portion of our daily lives, they still have an enournmous impact. These are, for example, brushing your teeth and keeping your apartment clean. Keep your routines in check to guarantee you have the grip on your life.
Things you should avoid:
  • Masturbation
Sexuality is one of the main energy drives in human body; don't exhaust it! If you feel the necessity to fap once in a week, it's ok, but if you do it daily, it will consume much of bodily protein and numbens the senses.
    Procrastination
This is a major modern disease: too many temptations have driven us to avoid having the duty done. It may not even be the lack of responsibility, but simply not feeling confident or satiated with the idea of getting the pressing matters finished.
If this become a habit for you, getting rid of it may prove really hard. If you succeed, it will rise you willpower and drive to have errands done as soon as possible. The central problem with procastrination usually is the lack of organization and feel that this duty take time from something more pleasurable. To counter this, remind yourself of the immediate logical benefits of completing the deed, the long-term benefits, and you will see that putting off is not really a reasonable option.
    Demanding too much of yourself
If you decide to achieve some goal but set the limit too high, there might be a change that you will snap and indulge without any control, which later will lead to a massive sense of disappointment and guilt. If an urge rises, the worst thing is that you tease yourself by thinking of not having done the deed and become obsessed by it.
There are two correct methods two fight unwanted urges:
a) Consciously tell yourself that if you succeed in x, you will receive reward y, which is something you crave, after a certain period. This way your brain will accustom to the thought of receiving something good after you have resisted the temptation.
b) Let the sensation pass. Acknowledge that the world around is in a flux, and as such even the overwhelming feelings are transitory by their nature. Don't resist - just calm down and listen to your body. Breath deep and relax. After having done this for a while you will find that the urge is still there, but weakened. Now find something else - something more constructive - to do and to concentrate your thoughts on.
