That is a great site, I'm doing searches for Malta in it. Regarding the Norman liberators:

Saracen lands since 950 successfully conquered by Normans. Ref suggests from Normandy, but more likely they came from Sicily, conquered earlier.

They came from Sicily, there are practically no doubts about it. In Maltese history the idea has been pushed that they came from Normandy, but that only refers to their origins (and that is only an attempt to disassociate Malta from Sicilia/Italia). The Normans, like practically all of Malta's rulers and people came from Sicily. This is even true for the Saracens themselves.
