Now let's see.. for you to understand it, to say that Samaranch is (or even was) a Fascist would like saying that anyone who ever held a charge in the last years of the Republic of Yugoslavia, was a Maoist.

That was during one of the last governments of General Franco, which was made up in its most part by Christian-Democrat Technocrats, and who were the ones who organized the transition to a Liberal democracy.

Besides, Franco's regime was not "Fascist" but Social-Conservative.

In the video they says that he was appointed as Governor of Catalonia, which he was not. He was appointed in 1973 as Government Deputy for the Province of Barcelona. There is a difference in that detail because the execution of the terrorist which the video implies him in.

Indeed. I would never call Juan Antonio Samaranch a fascist, because generally the very idea of fascism was characteristic only for Italy (and Britain to some extent) and not for Spain. All national, anti-communist, and anti-capitalist movements in Europe cannot be called fascist, that's pretty simplistic way of looking at things. Each of these movements were unique in each of the nations and states in which they emerged.

Franco's regime can be rather called right wing conservative than anything else, particularly not national-revolutionary.

Yes, well.. more or less along those lines.

That was the uniform of El Movimiento Nacional ("The National Movement"), which was the official name for what previously had been called Falange Española Traditionalist y de las JONS, or FET y de las JONS (Traditionalist Spanish Falange). The very name invokes a question..

... Falange was a revolutionary movement, whereas Traditionalism (Carlism) was a reactionary one. No matter that I would agree in that José Antonio Primo de Rivera was Traditionalist at heart.

In any case, FET y de las JONS (or El Movimiento later) was the place to be if you seeked a career in the Administration. The value of it in the last years is a different question.

For example, in this picture you have Adolfo Suárez (aka The Perjurer) with the same uniform, taking his oath as Vice-Secretary of The Movement in April 1975. On July 1976 he took his second oath this time as President of the Government, betraying his previous oath, and step by step dismantling all vestiges of Franco's Regime and even using the information services in the most infamous ways to destroy any possibility of resistance.
