About 190 arrested in Copenhagen clashes

Danish police arrested about 190 people in Copenhagen in violent street clashes after authorities evicted left-wing squatters from a youth centre.
Authorities took control of the building in the multi-ethnic, working class Norrebro neighbourhood in an early morning raid.
Members of an anti-terrorist unit leapt on the roof from helicopters while police officers perching on a crane aimed water cannon through the windows.
After the eviction, scores of demonstrators threw cobblestones at police and set fire to makeshift barricades of rubbish bins and bicycles.
Officers in riot gear chased protesters through the streets and police vans smashed through barricades.
Television footage showed crude weapons that police said they found in the youth house, including crates full of stones and shopping carts wrapped in barbed wire.
One officer and two protesters were injured, police said, including one protester who blew off his hand trying to hurl firecrackers at police.
Clashes flared up again in the evening after a call on the youth centre's website for a demonstration through Norrebro towards the house.
Sympathisers from outside Copenhagen arrived by train and in cars to join the demonstration.
During the march, more than 1,000 protesters threw bottles and bricks at the police, who responded with tear gas.
Later the unrest spread to near the hippie enclave of Christiania, where rioters smashed shop windows, overturned cars and set them on fire.
"We hope the rain and the cold will help us calm things down," said Flemming Steen Munch, spokesman for Copenhagen police.
According to Danish news agency Ritzau, at least 17 of those arrested are foreigners.
Twenty-four people have been remanded in custody, and two have already been sentenced to 27 days in jail for assaulting police, Ritzau said.
The conflict over the youth centre has been simmering since 2000 when local government sold the building to a religious group. Left-wing activists have used it as a base since 1982.
The current owners have a court order to have squatters evicted, which sparked several clashes last year between police and demonstrators.
The youths have sworn to protect the house and have repeatedly called for a political solution while refusing a proposal to move to another building.
"We made them an offer and I'm sorry that they did not accept it," Copenhagen Mayor Ritt Bjerregaard told a news conference after hurrying back from a ski vacation in Norway.
"The police handled the situation very professionally," she said.

- what do they do to earn their living (you don't live off squatting, obviously)?
- if they don't earn their living all by themselves, who pays them?
- what is the goal of this "life-style" and ideology?

Autonomists as they call themselves are violent parasites that live from the benefits the "fascist" capitalists pay them. Most are students, many indeed work, but exploiting the capitalist sytem is their goal. Despite the recent clashes they are very privileged since they get youth centers and other real estate for free usage. Often they are just footboys for the ruling elites, especially when it comes to cracking down nationalist asssembleys etc.
They are well connected and live the mythos they were the only anti-fascist force existing.
These are Finnish supporters, they fly a banner praising a notoriously known Danish criminal who murdered two Finnish policemen.

That sounds to be a pretty good description. I heard about it on the radio (BBC) and they called the rioters 'activists' (which made me laugh) while at the same time describing the 'activists' as engaging in 'organized urban guerrilla warfare' against the Danish Police. Contrary to many a reds' belief though they are an integral part of the Establishment, compromising easily half of it in conjunction with their senior controlling partner...Capitalism....which together form Multi-culturalism. If they were not a major part of the Establishment they would not be able to get away with, amongst other things, 'squatting' in the buildings as they are for years with nothing done (but rarely) to stop them. At the present the reds primary role would appear to be to make sure the flow of 'cheap labor' remains unimpeded, so that elites who once profited from the Trans-Atlantic slave trade can get at the far superior profits of this new trade in human flesh.

So yes, the capitalists and reds are good friends, bosom buddies even. If the Capitalists and reds were truly enemies one would not see the reds' hero Karl Marx buried as he is in the historic center of world capitalism...London.

As regards them, I never thought they were against the capitalistic liberal-democratic system. They are just the internal, controlled opposition. They are watchdogs who have a role to eliminate possible real opponents to the system. They are the guarantee that there be never any real opposition.

The only real opposition to this disgusting capitalistic system could be nationalists. But these lefties are often in the business of smearing up nationalists. So who are they working for?

A brief outline of the events:

• 1982: October. Squatters (known as BZ in Denmark) are given the keys to Jagtvej 69 by the city of Copenhagen.

• 1996: Spring. 350 signatures are gathered among locals and neighbours who want the house closed.

• 1997: The city of Copenhagen make a deal with the users of Ungdomshuset, telling them that from 1st of January 1998, the house can be closed with a three-month warning.

• 1999: May. City Council carries that the house will be closed and sold.

• 2000: January, the house is sold.

• 2001: September. Crazy "Christian" cult Faderhuset buys the house.

• 2003: Faderhuset summon the users of Ungdomshuset for breach of private property.

• 2004: City Court decides that Faderhuset are in their right to throw the users of Ungdomshuset out. The youngsters appeal against the verdict.

• 2006: Østre Landsret uphold the decision of the City Court.

• 2006: September. The Jagtvej 69 Foundation offer buying the house back from Faderhuset, who refuse. The Foundation try their case at the Supreme Court.

• 2006: October. A city official, Fogedretten (untranslatable) decides that the users of Ungdomshuset must be out of the house by the 14th of December. The users are refused by the Supreme Court when trying to appeal their case again. The Police promise that they will not clear the house before January 1st.

• 2006: 12th of December, Faderhuset once again refused to sell the house to The Jagtvej 69 Foundation.
• 2006: 14th of December, Borgergruppen for Ungdomshuset (Citizens in Favour of Ungdomshuset) stage a large-scale, peaceful demonstration different places in Copenhagen.
• 2006: 16th of December, the users of Ungdomshuset stage an unannounced demonstration on Nørrebro (a central part of Copenhagen, home to many immigrants, not-so-well-off-people, hip rich people and Jagtvej). The demonstration ends in violent riots and fights against the police, when they attempt to dissolve the demonstration. 273 arrested. Three are remanded.
• 2006: 29th of December. Mayor of Copenhagen, Ritt Bjerregaard (Socialdemokraterne), suggests that Ungdomshuset be moved to Christiania*. The Christianits say no, claiming there is no room.
• 2007: 3rd of January, Faderhuset ask permission to tear down the house. It is granted.
• 2007: 8th of Janyar, Ritt Bjerregaard suggest that Ungdomshuset be moved to another house on Jagtvej, an abandoned publically owned building known as 'Brandstationen,' the Fire Station. The Ministry of Science refuse to sell. (She should have checked first, eh? Very professional! )
• 2007: 13th of January, the Organization For More Youth Houses squat a house on Dortheavej. It is cleared by the police two days later.
• 2007: 22th of January, the City of Copenhagen offer The Jagtvej 69 Foundation a part of the abandoned school on Stevnsgade for 12.000.000 DKKR.
• 2007: Ungdomshuset turn down the offer, saying that they will only pay 1 DKKR for a new house. They will not "pay the politicians, because the politicians sold the house they already had."
• 2007: 28th of February. The school on Stevnsgade is turned into a school for handicapped children, leaving the users of Ungdomshuset with no alternative house.
• 2007: 1st of March. Early in the morning, Ungdomshuset is cleared by the police. Riots break up on Nørrebro, spread to other parts of Copenhagen. Random cars are burned down, stores are attacked, a school is ravaged, books at a school library are burned (who else burned books? does anyone remember? ), computers are burned.
