Turkish papers concentrated on the foreign relations subject, Diplomatik Gozlem, published and interesting article in which they claim that the European Union insists on quick accesscion of Croatia and Serbia&Montenegro and at the same time is preventing the accesscion of Turkey into EU.
At the day when EU negotiations with Croatia and Turkey formally started the EU also gave "green light" for opening negotiations for conclusion of the agreement for stabilization and accesscion with Serbia&Montenegro, says the Turkish magazine, and adds how the only remaing obstacle for Croatia and SCG for entry into EU is cooperation with the Hague Court. Dplomatik Gozlem reminds how Croatia and SCG actually had the key role in 1990s when the "Balkan region" turned into slaughterhouse. The term "balkanization", which the magazine describes as "bankrupcy of international diplomacy", for the first time entered into use in 90s to designate disaster and human tragedy that befell the "balkan region". The magazine claims that Croatia and Serbia&Montenegro, still despite promises with full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, hide their war criminals and refuse to extradite them. All mentioned war criminals(Karadzic, Mladic and Gotovina) come from Balkans, and their common thing is the fact they committed horrible war crimes against Bosnian Muslims, claims Diploamtik Gozlem. The magazine complains on the fact that no one asked Croatia or Serbia&Montenegro, in the context of negotiations for the EU accesscion, for a formal apology for "deliberate genocide" which these two countries committed in the "balkans" at the begining of the 1990s, and claims the EU will probably never ask them to apologize anyway. The magazine asks for a conviction of "balkan butcher" Slobodan Milosevic and also an arrest of his wife Mira Markovic as well as prompt arrest of Ante Gotovina, Ratko Mladic and Radovan karadzic. Diplomatik Gozlem mentions numerous cases of murdered of Bosnian Muslims druing the 1990s committed by Croatian and Serb forces and they also mention the "descendants[inheritors] of the Ottoman Empire" who were killed in Bosnia during 90s. Of recent history they speak of blackmail by Austria which alledegly asked for opening of negotiations with Croatia in trade for a "green light" for Turkey which is by the opinion of the author another proof that the EU is favouring Croatia and Serbia&Montenegro and at the same time neglecting Turkey. http://www.index.hr/clanak.aspx?id=288991 |

Their character as a nation is most ignoble. On the borders with Europe, only Northern African countries are comparable. Just before the last talks on the adhesion of Turkey to the E.U., Turkey PM Erdogan launched this threat in public (along these lines): "the [European] countries which oppose to the entry of Turkey in Europe will be responsible for the consequences of the failure of the alliance of civilisations."
Erdogan is the same who years ago said: "Our minarets are our bayonets, the domes are our helmets, the mosques are our barracks and the Muslims are soldiers."

First Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest, then Turkey in the EU.
My guess is that by the time Outer Mongolia and Laos are applying for membership in 2012, the joke will have worn thin and the whole EU farce will finally be wrapt up ![]()

The traditions of the Irish people are the oldest of any race in Europe north and west of the Alps, and they themselves are the longest settled on their own soil - Edmund Curtis (A History of Ireland: From Earliest Times to 1922) The Irish are one of the most ancient nations that I know of at this end of the world, and are from as mighty a race as the world ever brought forth. For it is certain that Ireland hath had the use of letters very anciently and long before England; that they had letters anciently is nothing doubtful, for the Saxons of England are said to have their letters and learning, and learned men, from the Irish. - Edmund Spenser (writer, and British Government Official in Ireland, AD 1596). No need to guess. Just a few days ago I read on a paper of one Socialist politician saying that next Morocco should be given similar facilities to those given to Turkey.

A socialist said here : "Europe is an idea, not a reality"... An idea shared by many politicians it seems.

That kind of vague logic can be used to question the reality of almost anything.
It is devoid of any worth, thus it's not suprising to hear it come from a politican's mouth. Quote:

If all these politicians were given a hoe and were made to work from dawn to dusk to earn a decent living like the people who build the nations used to do, they wouldn't waste time pretending that they are thinkers when in reality they are not endowed with the ability to thinking, let alone reasoning.

Why are they so anxious to gain formal entry in the EU? It's not as if they haven't already invaded Europe and created clusters in some european cities.
Oh well...
