France 'rejects EU constitution'

French voters have rejected the proposed EU constitution in Sunday's referendum, according to an exit poll.
The poll quoted by French TV gives the "No" side 55% - in line with surveys published in the run-up to the vote.

If confirmed, the result will be a blow to President Jacques Chirac and France's two main political parties, which campaigned for a "Yes".

It could deal a fatal blow to the EU constitution, which the Union has been working on since the start of 2002.

The constitution cannot come into force unless it is ratified by all 25 EU members.

So far, nine countries have ratified it.

Eight other national referendums are still to come, including one in the Netherlands on Wednesday, where the "No" side is also leading in the polls.

Actually, do not forget that this abhorrent constitutional draft was the spawn of a Frenchman, a Freemason known as Giscard D'Estaign, and that its most fanatic supporter before the E.U. has been Jacques Chirac.

And also do not forget that the politician who most opposed to this constitutional spawn was a Spaniard, Aznar.

So, for once, you have done the right thing. Even if the reasons for it were internal to France, to punish Chirac for an internal situation of discontent.

Despite this, congratulations for doing it.

Yes, the two worst "statesmen" we've ever had... Abortion, massive immigration, EU, ...

Not totally. Many people also voted against the Constitution because they didn't want that EU and the disappearance of France (FN), or because they didn't want a liberal Europe (communists, trotskysts).

Yes. I didn't say that I agree with that.. nor the reasons why France opposed to it. The entire thing of Iraq is dirty on all sides.

Bah Mynydd, you just can't admit we are the leaders in the NO campaign, that we were the leader in the No to war in Irak. As we say here : "Mauvaise foi". France is right!

Aznar... anti french politician, he condemned many of your countrymen to death for the chosens. Innocent spaniards were killed by his fault in Madrid. What a spaniard leader indeed... Is PP working for Spain?...

Freemason frenchmen... How funny! Do you really think VGE is working for France (in the name of "France") and frenchmen, do you really think he claims himself as a frenchman? No, sureley not. Chirac is a traitor, not a french (it's different please). Yes, freemasons... So it's sounds like many of werstern european countries, isn't it?

Yes, there are some ridiculous trotskyst leaders here, but they still got 10% of the votes in 2002...

Olivier Besancenot, a 28 y/o factor

Arlette Laguiller, who is candidate at the elections since 1969

Daniel Gluckstein, Jew who got 0,47% of the votes

Interesting. Things are looking up
Quote:
But other areas will suffer -- specifically Turkey's accession to the EU. It is doubtful that negotiations will begin on Oct. 3 as planned. French President Jacques Chirac, along with German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, was one of the strongest advocates of Turkey's entry to the EU but the negative referendum has surely weakened his position.

Chirac will be more skeptical in future after the majority of French people rejected the EU's present course. Schröder himself may even be removed from power by the end of the year and replaced by a conservative alternative, further decreasing the support Turkey has in the bloc.

A Prime Minister? That Chirac is as much of a crook as it can be expected from him. He should have been
