Koštunica said in parliament yesterday that the regulations of the Serbian constitution that deem Kosovo a part of Serbia were included in the parliamentary Kosovo resolution adopted late last night.
Koštunica added the document stated that every international agreement signed by Serbia must not enfringe with Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“At the EU summit on December 14, it was decided that a civil mission of the EU would be sent to Kosovo to replace UNMIK. The problem is that the EU mission is a part of the Ahtisaari plan, and the plan has never been part of a resolution passed by the UN Security Council,“ Koštunica said.
He said that the arrival of an EU mission would be illegal and would violate the UN Security Council’s Resolution 1244, adding that “this is the first question and situation where our relations with the EU will be tested.”
“Resolution 1244 exists and it can be replaced only by a new resolution from the Security Council,” the prime minister said, adding that the resolution must be all-encompassing and not specifically changed only to replace the existing UN mission in the province.
