Putin probably isn't good (as svin said), but those who would like to replace him, with the help of the international "observers" and NGOs, are probably ten times worse.

Speaking of "democracy", this whole measuring up "democraticality" of different countries is a moronic bullshit. Actually, they never said what this ideal democracy would be and how would it look like. In reality, the "level of democracy" in some country is the way the newspeak of the West denotes those politicians and governments that are to the liking of the Western power elites. Whoever follows the guidlelines commanded by Washington and Brussels and has a puppet government, is considered "democratic". Whoever doesn't, he is "undemocratic". It is as simple as that.

I know it from the example of my own country: as long as it had a government that the West did not like, it was considered undemocratic (and different kinds of pressure exerted thereupon). As soon as the government changed and the darling parties of the West came to power, suddenly it came to be considered as "democratic", although nothing of real substance changed.

It is similar to the use of terms like "moderate" and "hardliner" in media reports to signal who is good or bad in foreign places as diverse as Ukraine, Fiji or Venezuela. The BBC especially loves such lazy and simpleminded terms.

Nationalist party in the strictest sense of it, not some "patriotic", ''etatist" b/s.

Russia is an artificial state, in my opinion. It should be transformed into a mono-ethnic state with important minorities present and having their cultural autonomy or, perhaps, a confederation of several Russian states. Traditionally Muslim or Buddhist peoples should secede with territories they occupy and never be a part of Russia. Of course, it's easier said than done. Actually, no political party in Russia would dare to subscribe to such political manifesto at present.

I can also imagine that people supporting these kind of ideas would be instantly labelled "traitors" and greeted with the most severe hostility by the patriot wing.

This makes sense to me.

What about a federal system in the Swiss or Canadian style? Would that be an improvement?
