Hi all, I'm a new member in this forum and I'm looking for books or racial studies about physical antropology in Spanish or English languague. Can you recommend me any book for beginners in that topic?

Your chances are highest in second-hand bookshops and online mail orders. In normal bookshops you have generally problems if you want to get books which are older than 10 years if its about the last edition.

In normal bookshops not so easy. I suggest you to check on-line bookshops, is the best way in my opinion, some books will be easy to find... sometimes is a matter of perseverance.

I also want to thank you for your quotes and specially your link on Spain's anthropology. I enjoyed very much it's reading though i disagree in fewer points with the author ; for exemple , he seems to take it that alpines are predominantly blonds and, specially, when he says that the Valencià language is a derivative from the Catalan ... but that's not the point of the thread, neither is the place, here

Regarding the blond Alpines I can not remember now where Luispaniard wrote that affirmation, probably he wanted to explain that in some racial areas of the Iberian Peninsula blondism is related to brachycefaly, I know for example that Santander province where there is a high percentage of blond population (30% according to Aranzadi, Sanchez or Hoyos Sainz) and where there is also a high percentage of brachycephalic population, probably because the Celtic immigrations. In my opinion Luispaniard made a good job, but we are humans and humans we make mistakes.

Well, about the catalan-valencian conflict I did some works about this mater in Terra Nostra magazine, the former Tierra y Pueblo publication and I just can disagreed that Valencian and Catalan are different languages, if you understand Catalan I recommend you to read the following article:

Yes, Louispaniard made a really good work. He surelly was very carefull in the choice of his bibliography and his point of view is very scientific and in accordance to modern anthropologists concensus.


Regarding the "conflict" we refered in our previous posts, I unfortunately don't read catalán. I've got friends in Valencia who exposed me their point of view but I admit that I need making further inquiries on the matter to elaborate my own opinion (and specially learning at least some rudiments of valencià-catalán).
