Yours would be better classified as.. Light chestnut/auburn or medium brown/auburn I think. Don't you have reddish-blonde highlights? Maybe it was just the photos, I don't know.

Well, according to the chart, and my screen settings, my hair is actually almost as Dark Strawberry Blonde. Anyway, I'm fine with Light Chestnut/Auburn.

I have a good monitor, Compaq P1220. I can see a difference between all those colours.

The problem that I have with the chart is that the ash brown is not ashen enough, and the golden brown not golden enough. They look too similar.

Ash brown should look cooler, the colour of wild rat, or what is also called cendré.

I think that yours look ash brown. It's possible that it's accentuated by gel.

I agree, the colors shown on the chart are all colored hair (either human hair or synthetic, I don't know) and natural hair color can never be produced exactly, even with the best of materials. Even black hair color doesn't look black after a while, but turns dark red (at least on my hair).

Judging by that chart, your mother's hair looks like copper to me, it may be more of a strawberry blonde in real life. Yours looks between medium brown and dark auburn, but since it's short it's harder to say. Short hair looks darker.

My mother's hair is (well was, that picture is old) called strawberry blonde by most people. It's not ginger. She told me that she had natural highlights in her hair as a teenager, although it's not visible in that picture.

I also think mine is some chestnut shade or auburn. Short hair does indeed look somewhat darker. Mine looked a bit lighter when I had it longer. I have noticed that with most people. I have attached a picture when it was longer. Maybe it's easier exposed to the sun.

I think it's a (medium) chestnut brown, yes. Certainly one with reddish hue, and not ashen at all. If your hair got lightened by the sun it would probably get some even lighter auburn streaks, from what I can tell. Provided it's long, of course.

In the very shadow my hair is medium brown. If I hold it against any kind of light it gets golden hightlights all over, in the outdoor this kind of shine looks simply dark strawberry blonde or even yellow during sunny days.

Himmler was described to have had the same phenomenon (minority blondism).

Actually I'm not ++Nordish++
I was classified on Skadi (some months ago) as being a "mix" between several European subraces (as far as I remember, Atlanto-Med, Alpine, Nordic with some Dinaric admixture, but I'm not really sure).
Currently I don't have any "good" pic, only pics from my Italian trip when I was always more or less drunk, I don't want to show that.

Well, I was just wondering why my hair is lighter when it is long and darker when short. How do you, racial classifers, explain that?
For exemple, when I have a short hairstyle, people could think my hair is dark, thought I'm chestnut.
